Not really a major change of significance but I've noticed that 'Entertainment and Arts' has been changed to 'Culture' on the navigation bar on the BBC News website. Frees up a bit more space and now much further in - will take a lot of time to remember that it's not the category at the far end anymore after years of instinctively clicking there.

I don't think anyone suggested it would replace the globe branding, or would become the core element of any future branding for BBC News in its entirety.

But where has it been said that it wouldn’t? In fact Chris Cook suggested the icon would feature on screen -

It feels like this has come from the same rumour that the iPlayer and Sounds icons would never hit television. Surely it would be bonkers to have a separate brand identity for your online presence to TV?

My reading of that tweet was that he's referring to the Chameleon branding elements that we already see on nearly all other BBC channels (e.g. the animating BBC blocks at the top of the screen, service name at the bottom), rather than the icon.

Given we only see the icons on screen at the ends of promotions for online services (iPlayer/Sounds/Weather etc), I think a promo for the online news service is the only place we're likely to see the news icon on screen.  I can't see it playing a major part in the television branding at any point.

Due to the News at Ten being on at 10:30pm tonight (due to the final of The Apprentice) the full hour of The Context should go out on the NC from 9:30pm.

And this brings us to a question of NC carrying News at Ten at 22:30, the listings says it will. This means to Sports update (and no guide dogs), but when was the last time News at Ten fitted nicely in 30 minutes? Are they just going to crash out of it to Newsday, "Laura Kuennsberg" - style?

UPD. Nope, online listings turned out to be wrong. NC carried Sports update at 22:30 followed by a spying balloons documentary repeat at 22:35 instead of 10.

They aren’t showing News at Ten as it turns out. No Guide Dogs either tonight.

Well, the Sports update started three minutes earlier then usual, so they could accomodate a three minutes longer program than Guide Dogs - which is exactly the case for Spy Balloons (21 mins vs 18 mins).

Some mic issues with the weather tonight and no regional wall.

RE: BBC News Pres: 2022 - Present - IanJRedman - 24-03-2023

Tomasz Schafernaker's mic failed at the start of the News at Ten weather. A brief kerfuffle, then they faded up another mic source (very roomy audio). No nations and regions at the end, either - I presume this was connected?

Edit - snap!

Not just "no wall" - no mention of regions at all, even no "and now it's time for the news where you are", despite Reeta standing in front of the curved video wall.

In the neighbouring threads there are reports of joint bulletins in several regions, most likely due to half-an-hour shift. May be that is why they decided to avoid any mention at all.

Either that, or perhaps they ran over on the weather and needed to rush the outro?
