Also with regards to the new studio the current studio will be disassembled from May for the revamp to be ready by the first week of September. Confirmation that everything will be broadcast from the PE studio today.

Here's what he said about what the new studio will be like which I won't translate given that it's marketing-style information which gives us very little idea of what the studio will actually be like!

Franceinfo TV's Les Informés has a new title sequence:

The presenter market has just started, with an unsurprising surprise: L'heure des pros is expanding to radio... well, actually not. Pascal Praud has been hired by Europe 1 to present the lunchtime slot, which might be similar to the programme he does currently over on RTL (Les auditeurs ont la parole), with Éric Brunet on the line to take over the slot on the M6 station next season.

He is the newest CNEWS personality to join the station (after Sonia Mabrouk, Laurence Ferrari, Mathieu Bock-Côté, Dimitri Pavlenko and Romain Desarbres, etc..), confirming the increased sheer to the far-right of the radio network and more collaboration with the opinion network, at the moment Bolloré (through Vivendi) is finalizing plans to take over Lagardère News and waiting the authorisation of European authorities, but not before warehousing its top magazine Paris Match (itself a victim of Bolloré's far-right agenda) into another Vivendi subsidiary:

To other news, France 3 veteran Catherine Matausch is retiring from France Télévisions, the upcoming launch of the Ici newscasts being the reason for the move. Carole Gaessler will debut her new Olympic magazine later this summer, after numerous delays, whilst Émilie Tran Nguyen will get an increased role at France 5's infotainment show C à vous, including currently anchoring the first part from the Paris loft (with Patrick Cohen, Matthieu Belliard and Mohamed Bouhafsi) as the rest of the show's presenters (Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, Pierre Lescure and Bertrand Chameroy) move to Cannes for a Festival-oriented second half of the show, direct from the Promenade with a live studio audience and star guests, as part of France Télévisions' greatly expanded coverage of the event.

Switcheroo involving BFM TV and Franceinfo: Agathe Lambret, who covered Macron on the Altice channel, and Neila Latrous, who is currently the weekend host of Les Informés, are switching outlets. Lambret will present the weekend 8.30 political interview; whilst Latrous will return to BFM TV to serve as Political Editor, replacing Philippe Corbé, who has been promoted as News Director and General Editor.

Jean Baptiste Boursier will be joining LCI replacing Stefan Etcheverry on Les Matins LCI. He currently presents BFMTVSD and BFM Politique on weekends.

Separately, LCI has been in front of CNEWS (so 2nd behind BFMTV) for two straight weeks.

A treat this morning as Franceinfo played out the old "Le Journal" opening titles during "Le fil info 10h30-12h" complete with ceiling shot.

May news channel viewer shares from Mediametrie:
Channel May 23 (change from Apr 23 / change from May 22)
BFMTV 2.9% (-0.2% / -0.5%)
CNEWS 2.2% (+0.1% / +0.2%)
LCI 2.2% (+0.3% / +0.5%)
franceinfo: 0.7% (-0.1% / -0.2%)

Overall total for news channels: 7.9% (+-0% / -0.1%).

Highest ever viewer share for LCI.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - London Lite - 31-05-2023

I can only think LCI's share has gone up thanks to them also having round table discussions along with some actual news.

Franceinfo continually shoots themselves in the foot by running the channel around school term time with regular shows except for the breakfast Matinale bulletin being dropped and regular presenters such as Samuel Etienne being off for weeks on end. (I suspect he's currently recording blocks of his France 3 game show).

The weekend Matinale shows on Franceinfo seem to have stopped having Camille Grenu and Gaël Giordana working together. When she's on, he's on another shift at the weekend and when Camille is off, he returns.

With France 24 no longer available anywhere on la TNT (not even in IDF anymore), it's the only news channel which covers international news to a massive degree. Even if it's mostly Ukraine, LCI also tends to cover other major international stories when they happen whether it was Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, Trump in Court, Xi Jinping's 3rd term, protests in Georgia, Chinese spy balloons, etc... it's generally a very interesting watch. It also is first in terms of average viewing duration which LCI's bosses have explicitly said they've wanted to work towards.

Samuel Etienne has resigned from Franceinfo. A replacement for the new season of La Matinale hasn't been decided.
