Worth noting that franceinfo has new leadership and this will be their first September rentree. So big changes (or not) may be on the way -- though to be fair, it's been more or less the case every year since 2019/2020.

Le Parisien with the sentence on possible future changes.

I'd like to think Franceinfo would return to having more inventive programming rather than Le fil info blocks through the day, although the daytime bulletins feature round table debates in addition to rolling news.

What I think drags it down is having to allocate time to all the partners in the channel, so you get INA and France 24 providing filler with the latter simulcasting the main channel from midnight to 6.27am and then Radio France providing the Franceinfo radio simulcasts at regular intervals.

BFMTV and LCI are much easier to access for news, but Franceinfo has the advantage that CNEWS is basically a glossier version of GB News.

Samuel Etienne was back on Franceinfo this morning, so it looks like he'll be seeing out his contract until the end of the season.

From various posts on Lenodal, the latest on the battle between the news channels:

Tuesday, May 30th
CNEWS 2.8%
BFMTV 2.7%

Thursday, June 1st
BFMTV 3.0%
LCI 2.6%
CNEWS 2.6%

Friday, June 2nd
BFMTV 2.8%
LCI 2.6%
CNEWS 2.4%
franceinfo: 0.8%

Taddei on CNEWS (May 27 & 28):
Saturday: 53k viewers (0.4%)
Sunday: 73k (0.5%)

Puremedias summary of news channel's breakfast show scores this season (29 August 29 - 24 May 2023):
BFMTV: 419k viewers on average, 17.3% (-1.5 year on year)
CNews: 192k, 7.5% (-0.1)
franceinfo: 103k, 4.3% PDA (-0.5)
LCI: 88k, 3.7% PDA (+1.1)

BFMTV's Premiere Edition is essentially what's enabling them to stay first overall. Most of the rest of the day they are 2nd or 3rd.

Franceinfo have moved into the virtual studio. La Matinale was from the old studio this morning.

Notice the name straps are bolder than previously.

Aside from the fact that it's very much virtual (and looks so), it's a nice change from their usual claustrophobic studio. Also nice to see them have fun with the more dynamic camerawork the virtual studio enables them to do.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - London Lite - 10-06-2023

You can see they've tried to emulate the existing studio as much as possible with the outside view being the same, there's also the fixed robotic cameras from the old set there as well.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - London Lite - 10-06-2023

Still some niggles with the new set with a real camera lens poking out on a wide shot.

Wow that looks really bad. I dont like anything about that.

Too messy with the colors, I expected something more elegant from FTV.

In general, it seems that the news channel is a bit of an afterthought for them
