M6's 66 Minutes (A strand I believe is part of M6 getting their PSB licence renewed) had a feature on the Kate Middleton conspiracies, which for us featured BFMTV correspondent Laura Kalmus working outside Canada Gate, speaking to a British journalist for new information, working in a bar on her laptop and speaking to a Royal fan with her crew on The Mall.

66 Minutes has been around since 2006, and has nothing to do with PSB requirements. It is one on M6’s set of newsmagazines; unlike
Zone interdite (more focused on society issues),
Enquête exclusive (dedicated to world affairs with a general and human interest perspective) and
Capital (focused on consumer and economic reporting),
66 Minutes has a broader focus, tackling hot button issues with a tabloid lean and human interest angle on stories, often highlighting true crime stories, political and celebrity scandals, and even reports on lifestyle, showbiz and popular culture.
The topic tackled in that episode is just an example of the show’s content, but the format varies per episode: most shows have a multi-topic format, often with a common theme, but other episodes tackle a single topic through different stories and films, or, sometimes, with a single topic and film (the Grand Format episodes). Production is handled by the same teams as M6’s other newsmagazines, all through subsidiary C. Productions, and often sharing reporting and production staff; however, it can sometimes use reporters from other outlets, as well as freelancers, as M6 doesn’t as much correspondent presence as its rivals.

March 2024 news channel ratings from Mediametrie:
Channel - Mar 24 (change from Feb 24)
BFMTV - 2.7% (-0.2%)
CNEWS - 2.7% (-0.1%) -- all time record
LCI - 1.9% (+0.2%)
franceinfo - 0.7% (-0.1%)
Overall total for news channels: 8% (-0.2%).
BFMTV would've been behind CNEWS had the new revelations about the 'affaire Emile' not come to light on the very last day of the month. As this chronique from Julien Bellver on Quotidien shows, BFMTV went all in. Some on CNEWS were visibly not happy with Pascal Praud being quite salty about it during l'Heure des Pros on Monday.

Mediapart has a pretty damning piece on CNEWS (paywalled).

Ozap has a brief (free) summary of it.

Issues with Franceinfo's Matinale programme today.
No columnists, with Cassandre Mallay presenting 30 minute rolling news segments looped on the hour. 7.30-8.30 was live however.
The political interview was from the main desk area with Patricia Issa de Grandi was completely separate from the Matinale segments.
The other live segments such as L'info chez vous, 12-13 info and Au coeur de l’info went out as normal with stand-ins.

A message of reassurance for its usual target audience who may be less than pleased to see Manon Aubry (far-left) have an hour on the channel? Or a message to the ARCOM?

Looks like they're playing the GB News rulebook on booking the most far-left guests which is to reiterate to their target audience that they're in the right and those who have a different opinion are the crazies.
One thing I'll give CNEWS credit for is their editorial change to the right is working for them in the ratings.

Last night saw CNEWS extend its live coverage till 1:30am, and BFMTV and LCI till 2am to cover the Iranian response to Israel. Both of the latter were in Edition Speciale mode today too, with LCI starting half an hour earlier than usual at 6am.
Unfortunately for BFMTV, a breakdown of the aircon in the building they are based led to an overheating of the regie finale leading to all of Altice Medias channels being taken off air for about an hour and a half this late afternoon.
