It appears the duty forecaster for each channel will present the climate bulletin.

So, that's two daily editions. I am really surprised France 3 has its own edition given they are just dropping their national news content.

They even did a piece on 19/20 National about Météo Climat with Julia Martin this evening.

Considering the weather presenters are contracted to provide shifts either on France 2 or 3 (sometimes both channels at the same time), they've simply added the new climate show to the weather rota for both forecasters as they'd be presenting a standard bulletin anyway.

There's also a lunchtime edition of Météo Climat on France 2 before the 1pm news buletin.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - London Lite - 17-03-2023

Franceinfo is now also showing Météo Climat during Franceinfo soir. It's the France 3 bulletin.

Drama in France in the moment as the new pensions reform was applied by the Government after Article 49.3 was triggered by Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne in front of the Senate. BFM TV scooped the decision during midday and was rewarded with a ratings increase during the decision speech, with a peak of 12.4%. BFM TV became the fifth most watched channel in France yesterday, and beat its rivals by a wide margin.

Later in the day, TF1 sealed an exclusive interview with Borne, causing the ratings for the news fringe of the 20h programme to increase to 27.6% during the interview, peaking at 29.6%, and retaining most of the audience for the Le Mag fringe.

As massive protests in France are underway in the aftermath of the decision, most news channels are in Édition Spéciale mode at the moment.

JPP's longtime co-host and chroniqueuse, Dominique Lagrou-Sempère, was interviewed by Jordan De Luxe on his C8 show in the occasion of the publication of her memoir, Celle qui s'aime enfin, dedicated to her recently deceased husband, Claude. There, she revealed the reason of her departure of TF1: the replacement of JPP by Marie-Sophie Lacarrau, which led to her interventions being reduced increasingly after her appointment, much to her chagrin. She also revealed the "totally honorable" salary he had when on the channel, and compared it to the salary of JPP's longtime stand-in Jacques Legros.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - London Lite - 17-03-2023

I noticed Dominique Lagrou-Sempère getting less and less airtime as soon as Marie-Sophie replaced JPP. There was also zero chemistry between the two where it seemed they didn't want two women doing the SOS Villages feature.

It won't come to a surprise that Dominique's replacement is a male journalist.

Most notably, LCI paused it's coverage of Ukraine for a day. They are back to their usual programming today though.

I didn't realise that Chloé Nabédian left France Télévisions as a forecaster in December 2022 to set up a tv production company.

Her company's first commission is "À la Vie, à la Terre" for TV5MONDE.

Sébastien Thomas presented his final bulletin on Franceinfo this morning, covering the morning show. He's becoming a weather presenter staying with France Télévisions presenting Météo Climat on France 3 in April.

An update on this... M6 is ready to formally launch the new look around Easter. A press call is expected for March 28 to introduce the new look to the specialised media outlets.

France 2 cancelled at the last minute its normal teatime schedule to air live coverage of two Early Day Motions by the National Assembly opposition MPs, as they unsuccessfully tried to depose Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne and her government on the aftermath of the forced application of the Macron pensions reform. Jean-Baptiste Marteau helmed the special report, with political editor Nathalie Saint-Cricq, political historian Jean Garrigues and Les Echos deputy editor Dominique Seux acting as analysts. News channels went also all-in with live coverage.

Early in the day, BFM TV's Bruce Toussaint was forced to interrupt a debate during his Le Live Toussaint block, as a discussion related to the aforementioned situation went into CNEWS territory, as MPs David Guiraud and Nadia Hai began clashing on-air, prompting Toussaint to try to restore order on-air to no effect.

France 2 managed to squeeze in the usual two episodes of N'oubliez pas les paroles! before the 8pm news.

RE: French TV - News Discussion - matthieu1221 - 21-03-2023

France 2's choice to do news programming yesterday was a good call as they were ahead of BFMTV. LCI was second followed by CNEWS and finally franceinfo: in the news channel ranking. Had France 2 simply left coverage to franceinfo: it would have hardly helped boost audience on the stagnating news channel.
