Second time I’ve seen the dance / train ident introduce the news and it doesn’t feel any less inappropriate.

Using the Train Station ident into News at Ten. That doesn't work at all.

Cityscape is a bit dull to use all the time, there needs to be more news safe idents.

In my opinion, they should make a news safe ident with just a quiet lake or river similar to the boat ident from the channel’s late 2006 set.

Also, a ITV1 sports ident, preferably football because it would be a bit odd to introduce the World Cup final with Kites.

This is where the 2013 set of idents worked so well. There were so many that were suitable for news and sombre programmes that a different one could be used each day for each news programme

That railway station ident seems to get less plays than the others.

It seems watching the 3 main peak time junctions every night this week, it’s basically been either the cityscape or the kites one every time

And if you remember, News at Ten eventually had its own specific idents made.

There was actually nothing wrong with the 2013 package, it didn't seem dated by the time 2019 came around. Maybe someone here knows the reason why it was replaced.

I bet people on TV Forum didn’t say that at the time, bear in mind we have people saying that ITV News is due a new look every few months for about 6 years

Just saw a new promo for GMB advertising their World Cup news coverage, the endboard with no photo but just a giant GMB logo.

I think we had all become used to TV pres being updated so often that it was kind of expected really.

My point was more that with the benefit of hindsight, the way the '13 idents were shot lends themselves to aging better. Unlike the new idents which predominantly feature what I consider to be cheap looking animation overlaid on footage, in the former examples any effects achieved were through being in/out of focus, the use of slow motion etc. The sort of thing that conveys class and maturity, which unfortunately can't be said for the new stuff aside from the cityscape ones, but even those are not perfect.
