Well from the little bits of Christmas pres seen, they may as well not have bothered.

Christmas ident just now was the field ident with a Santa looking lost stood in the middle holding a map.

Haven't seen any festive break bumpers, and the end caps of promos have hardly been changed at all.

Such a shame, feels like ITV have almost given up with pres, considering they were always the network I got excited most about with pres and rebrands, not the case this time unfortunately.

It’s not aesthetically similar in anyway, but something about this rebrand reminds me of the yellow logo era where the channel and network just felt so lost and cold.

In comparison to how great 2013 was.

I think it’s quite clear ITV are focusing more on ITVX… the promos and branding are so much better than the linear channels branding. The transitions for ITVX is much smoother and better looking. Maybe it’s their plan… I suppose they have said people are watching more through streaming rather than terrestrial means nowadays so maybe more of the branding budget went on ITVX instead.

Yep very low tier pres from ITV1.

Is there going to be a Santa variant at the Station and in Cityscape?

I would settle for those spinning Santas on the carousel now and the biggest shame is that ITV3 will have lost their dedicated Christmas idents.

It's completely understandable to focus a lot on online and streaming...but considering how high ratings for I'm a Celeb were, shows there is still an audience for terrestrial live TV, yet it feels like they don't really care.

Even ITV pre-2013 had more personality. Look at some of the lovely Christmas pres we had in 2008/09, 2010 and 2012 (let's not talk about 2011!)

Please remember ITV have never ever been fully committed to Christmas television - it is simply not commercial for them to be - that is left to the BBC, who can afford to throw everything at Christmas including presentation, as they are not focusing on sponsorship or ad revenue.

ITV have always been the cheap and a bit cheerful approach and of course this had led to inconsistency in its presentation over the decades.

ITV in 2011 was the worst, with the regular idents used with an animated Santa sitting on the logo, or putting Christmas lights over the logo - looked awful, especially when they aired the idents used for summer.

Train station ident shown into Tipping Point this afternoon:

And the Cityscape shown into the football:

I fail to see the point of using the Christmas idents if they're used in conjunction with the regular set of idents. Either you use just the Christmas idents or you use just the regular ones. None of this pick-and-mix nonsense.

That glimpse of Cityscape at least seems a decent effort.

Totally agree 2011 was not a good year, but their 2008/09 package, their 2010 package, and especially their 2012 package were all beautiful. 2012 even put BBC One to shame.

And saying it's not commercial for them...Christmas Day isn't commercial for them, but the run up to it, advertiser's will spend more than they do the rest of the year so it's probably ITVs most profitable time of the year, so of course they should invent a bit more into their Christmas packages.
