I always enjoyed the repeats of The Big Match on BT Sport which came with a variety of ITV Sport endcaps (sometimes two different eras) followed by a BT Sport Classics sting for good measure.

They love a pre programme warning on ITV1

Misread that as Tipping Point and didn't question what would be so gory about Ben Shepherd and his 1p machine.

Guessing you've never watched Hollyoaks...pretty much every episode has a mid way warning thrown in for good measure.

I don't watch Hollyoaks so can't comment on that but I think Channel 5 has a bit of an obsession with them. Whether it's a medical programme or a look back at a certain year it seems every ad break has a warning.

Why? The programmes in question are shown after the watershed so surely one warning at the start is enough.

I thought it was just ITV that seemed to be scared of getting complaints

Almost every episode of Emmerdale or Corrie warns of “Strong Language” (meaning forthright language and strong opinions rather than Ken telling everyone to eff off) or “Strong emotions” which is pretty much the bread and butter of a soap

It's counter productive too as when warning are actually needed they don't cut through.

They've begun adding them as prompts online too - including one for a teenager having a swig of vodka but then didn't bother with one for their stunt episode with a couple of deaths and pretty brutal knockdown.

Loads of Brookside episodes on STV Player have had a warning and needed a PIN to watch, and half the time it's hard to see why- and then on the other hand, there's episodes that don't require a PIN that have content you think maybe should have warranted it). It feels so inconsistent and like you say, devalues the warnings and makes you pretty much ignore them,

Reminds me of how That's TV give you a content warning during Goodnight Sweetheart but go as far as to bleep the word "nazi".

I think the PIN requirements on Sky are triggered by the time of download request rather than necessarily the content.

If I download something at 22:00 it's fine as I'm assumed to be an adult. If I do it at 06:00 they can't assume the same and I'm asked for a PIN when viewing, even if viewed at 22:00 on another day. Confused

LESSON: Never browse from Sky Go for evening programmes to record while on the bus to work! Tongue

I tend to download Brookside while on the bus on Wednesday mornings.
