I do like the more dramatically edited one from when the program became the newsy format it is today from 1994.

The 2006 was nice with scenes of HK without any (odd) graphics choices.

Whilst the 2010 one's flat design is better than the odd 3D they've gone with ever since.

I do find it funny how over the years (especially visible in the 2006 video), you can see how they've slowly shifted right in the studio from the skyline backdrop to the plant one (not too sure what it's supposed to be to be honest!).

Worth noting that the main evening set is located just the to left (well sort of opposite) to the GMHK set in the same studio with one of the flash sets in one of the other corners.
The 1994 transition was interesting - though branded 'newsier' than what came before, the sofa brought a more relaxing feel to it than the current newsdesks - which I can't understand why there needs to be a separate news bulletin branding, when the whole programme itself is consisted of news after news.

I remember the 2010 intro - that's the one I grew up with every morning until Ch.99 and 77 came along with their cable morning news ports! Big Grin

The plants and the checkered glass feel like a balcony to me, sort of.

Last night, the province of Alberta in Canada had a general election. CBC, CTV, Global, and Radio-Canada blew away their primetime schedules to cover the election results, while Citytv opted to have rolling coverage on their FAST news channel (Citytv itself aired The Bachelor).

Here is a bit of a montage of each’s network’s on-air presentation. Global News also premiered the network’s new election graphics.

RTL Onbijtnieuws, the breakfast news bulletin on RTL4 has revealed a new theme tune, which is part of the new rebrand package coming this September.
The familiar notes are being kept, but in a different key it seems.

What? Rebrand upcoming? I haven't really seen any indication of an upcoming rebrand. If true, it might be really a surprise, but I don't except it to be a very throughout rebrand, maybe a refresh of the existing designs, but adding some of the RTL Aktuell branding (the RTL NL and RTL Aktuell rebrand were done by CapeRock). The new theme tune has also a very RTL Aktuell flair to it, so it might be a sign of things to come.

I don't quite understand which times the news bulletin intro is used to be honest on GMHK!

Speaking of the 77, iCable has returned their pay TV license from June 1st hence Cable News (as a pay TV channel) will cease to exist. Instead, viewers are expected to watch on channel 78 which is currently a mix of Cable News and Cable Finance simulcasts. The Cable News brand will be kept though and the intros introduced when channel 78 launched will most likely be kept.

The generic news intro:

Hold your horses, now, as the article I found on RTL Nederland's rebrand said the news rebrand is coming "eventually" with a studio reconstruction. The September timestamp is probably a campaign promoting the overall brand:
Quote:The new brand identity will be introduced with a soft campaign around the logo itself, Olaf Hovers says: "We're going to load the RTL brand a little more clearly starting in September.

Later News

An important RTL unit in the Netherlands will be brought under the new corporate identity a bit later, RTL News. Hovers: That also has a practical reason. We have a studio where many more elements have to be changed. But also RTL News will eventually be brought under the same style we are putting down now.'

Very commercial radio. Saying that I wouldn't read a great deal into this change. For some reason the breakfast news gets refreshed a lot more than the rest of RTL Nieuws. Always has done, I don't know why.

Forget what I said earlier. This new jingle apparently is part of the new package. (This is why it pays to read the video descriptions before you comment!)
