Plus, their flagship 5pm news is to return to the 1 hour format, plus a Queensland local bulletin from Sydney (they're currently simulcasting the Brisbane bulletin). Details are expected during the upfronts at the end of October.

So, presumably the Brisbane edition - when it is done separately - will be fairly similar to that in Adelaide? (i.e. done from a tiny CSO setup with maybe the odd throw to their newsroom - I believe the old set is still standing at Mount Coot-tha but much, if not all of the studio gear has otherwise been stripped out)

Feels like a back-to-basics approach, really - though at the same time, there's diminishing returns. You wonder how much more they can get out of the same look and feel (particularly with the set) that's been in place for over 12-and-a-half years.

Even their neighbours at the VRT have been through at least three big overhauls in that time.

Even to the casual viewer, it seems tricky enough to get their house in order at Rai.

You have three national newsrooms, fiercely independent of each other by all means, across the three networks (plus regional news on Rai Tre sharing their own corporate-esque look) - and in terms of presentation and graphics, they all appear to share a habit of taking retrograde steps not long after the slightest move towards modernisation.

A case in point - the very rudimentary animation of TG3's current titles compared to the sequence it replaced springs to mind.

In TG1's case, it can be argued there is a certain heritage to retain - the theme is, despite its many iterations, synonymous with Italian television (first used when the 'Telegiornale' began in 1954) and even the logo dates back to 1977.

But by the same token, TG1's on-air identity has repeatedly suffered from taking a step back quickly after taking two steps forward. One fairly radical attempt at a revamp was made in March 1992, designed to reinforce 'Telegiornale Uno' as the 'first' national news in response to the launch of TG5 on Canale 5.

It was ditched after just sixteen months on air.

Classic Ten.  Cutting the evening news back to hour then using the costs for those to make the national late news.  Putting it online first, maybe will give it a consistent time since Australian networks seem to have a sliding time slot for stuff.  If you look at the times of when "The Latest" or "Nine News Late" is on you'll see what I mean.  Also still having Brisbane not done from ... Brisbane.

Does anyone know what happened to the Australian TV Fan YouTube channel? I can't find it anymore.

His channel got deleted around the same time as Seven's Sunrise refresh - copyright strikes from the network.

But also no one really cares, it’s got a tiny audience and zero presence online. It just isn’t a player in the Australia news market. If you want commercial trash, there’s Seven and Nine. If you want real news, there’s the ABC and SBS.

Ten’s late news of first Sandra and then Hamish was their single unique offering and a way to bring in a younger audience. They killed that for the oldies at 5pm.

The big loss was the ABC cheapening and then axing Lateline, which the BBC seems to be about starting for NewsNight.

Almost 12 days after Terzake and De Afspraak (including the Friday edition) moved into a new state-of-the-art studio, VRT 1's Sunday current affairs programme Zevende Dag finally gets to move in to their new home from tomorrow.

Also the Friday edition of De Afspraak keeps the same blue and red colour gradient as the main edition with Bart Schols, but the intro instead features the Friday host Ivan de Vadder instead in his own filmed shots.
