Apart from maybe losing a news writer in the afternoons, I don’t see how sandwiching a new national newscast at 5:30 would reduce staff (CTV has already confirmed there’s no job losses at the local newsrooms because of this).
I was basing my guess on the Sky News Raw videos I watched and noticed the directors in charge would alternate each hour. But then again a news channel is a much different beast from a local station newscast. It's a relief they aren't cutting anymore jobs.
Quote:And in the age of multiplexing on DTV, it was kind of a surprised that NTV didn’t put CTV on CJON-DT 6.2 (either their own schedule or simulcasting CTV Atlantic with local commercials) and have 6.1 just have NTV local and Global programming.
It is strange how in Canada this has never been used. It's always been disappointing to see how those at the top at the CBC, Bell, Rogers and Corus don't seem the least bit interested in innovating like they do in the US.

Plus, their flagship 5pm news is to return to the 1 hour format, plus a Queensland local bulletin from Sydney (they're currently simulcasting the Brisbane bulletin).
10's revived obsession to news continues... An afternoon national bulletin at 3.30 is added next year, fronted by Narelda Jacobs, freshly out of the decade-old daytime show Studio 10 (to be axed in late December and may vacate spots for even more news).

I will update the post as soon as any embeddable video material will be available.

Since OP didn't, I will: here are the new opening sequences to four editions of TV2's Tények (bringing back the 2013 version of the theme, in a slightly remixed version), including Tények Plusz:

Interesting to see that Studio 10 is ending, but not surprised, the program seemed to be loosing steam the past few years now. Ten News at 3:30pm , smart to not put it on against 7 and 9 at 4pm.

They kept the newscast traditional, but with some added stand up segments.

Also with the new 5:30pm national news, CTV Toronto/ CFTO actually added a 5pm newscast, and dropped the full CP24 live at 5pm broadcast.

Live AT 5 continues on CP24 and CP24 still simulcasts the CTV Toronto news at 6.

Just after TV Tokyo's rebrand hit the airwaves, their TXN News bulletins also got a new look intro to match.
This video features both the old and new intros.

Here is a nice about the launch of Citytv Bogota and their CityNoticias programme. You can see the simliarities with the original Toronto station and how closely they followed the City model.

RE: International News Presentation: Past and Present - Medianext.MX - 22-11-2023

TVP launched on Monday a new studio for two of its news programmes: TVP2's Panorama and TVP1's Teleexpress. They use elements seemingly inspired by the look and feel of the Wiadomości studio, including the use of real-time AR/VR/XR elements (both shows aired during the pandemic and temporarily thereafter from that studio). Unlike Wiadomości, however, Panorama and Teleexpress still use their really unpolished graphics and title sequences (both of which date from 2011!, when they went widescreen), but the titles have been updated for HD.

In this page we can see a recording of CBS News coverage of the assassination of President John Kennedy from 60 years ago today

The CBS coverage seems to be the one that's always dragged out, even though the ABC and NBC coverage exists too. I remember watching a show about it on the 50th anniversary and you'd think CBS were the only ones who covered it!

I know Granada's breaking of the news still exists too, I think they were the first to break it in the UK, during a regional magazine programme of some sort, then the presenters understandably switched to JFK when the news broke.

I have in fact shared the video of the recording of Granada breaking the news over on the ITN Nostalgia thread, because I wrongly believed it was an ITN production.
I know this is not actually a TV recording but I wanted to share it anyway, this is a rare recording from WRUL, this was a privately owned shortwave radio station, it carried CBS Radio and ABC Radio coverage. It was a unique opportunity for people around the world to listen to domestic radio coverage
