CNBC-e in Turkey/Türkiye is reportedly to be relaunched in March. It’s a collaboration between CNBC and local conglomerate İlbak Holdings, and was delayed from the promised October 2023 launch.

It was previously broadcast since 2000, and became TLC after Discovery acquired it in 2015:

Another TVP3 regional news change: Kronika in Krakow, in an attempt to rebuild trust under new management, has refreshed graphics and added timeslots at 8am and 2.45pm. Presented in their newsroom, this is the opening of the 8am edition:

This is worth a read, as well, by way of further insight.

As the second article highlights plurality in news is so important - TVNZ running Newshub would almost be as bad as closing Newshub.

I do think WBD make a fair point though about how in NZ TV channels can't air any ads on Sunday mornings or at all on Good Friday, Easter Dunday and Christmas Day - but their digital competitors can.

It's a fair point but it does show how weak the business must be if it's one of WBD's complaints. I can see how they would lose out on a decent chunk of advertising revenue on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. But Sunday Mornings and Christmas Day aren't exactly pots of gold.

If you were starting from scratch in the morning trying to come up with Broadcasting Policy for a country, you'd be on the right track by doing the exact opposite of what New Zealand has done over the last few decades.

Buried in the middle of the Newshub situation, but Slovakia’s TV JOJ has rebranded its entire news service with a new studio and wholly new graphics.

The new studio builds on technology and production facilities that were initially implemented during the launch of the company’s news channel JOJ 24, including robotic cameras and automated workflows for production. The set itself is modular and can be easily adapted to the each production. JOJ 24 also has a separate set in the new studio.

Know there’s been a few by elections in the UK recently so for comparison’s sake, the ABC News channel’s rolling coverage of Saturday’s Dunkley by election. It’s using their Parliament House studio. Caps c/o tvcynic.

It gets worse for New Zealand's TV news industry. The public broadcaster is announcing they're cancelling their noon and "late night" newscasts, consumer program and Sunday evening current affairs show.

There will be no TV news on the main (only?) free-to-air commercial broadcaster while news will be limited on the public broadcaster by the middle of (southern hemisphere) winter.

RE: International News Presentation: Past and Present - W. Knight - 08-03-2024

On the brighter side of things, some new arrivals coming this month:

TV Globo's new São Paulo studio debuts on March 12 for Jornal de Globo, which will also see a new intro and music.

In Chile, Mega Media is set to launch their own news channel, Meganoticias Ahora, on cable starting March 18.

Their promo looks like this:

And RTL Nieuws' site in the Netherlands has received the RTL United treatment, now under the same umbrella as the TV channels and their entertainment news counterpart, Boulevard. Maybe a refresh to the TV side is on the cards?

The original one is still on, though:

So the only news on NZ TV (both the company and across all New Zealand television) would be the 1News Breakfast show and Evening bulletin?

And the half-hour Maori bulletin, Te Karere, which airs at 4pm. And maybe the 5.30pm news on Sky Open, provided they can find a new producer once Newshub goes.

Whakaata Māori (Maori Television) also produces a nightly news at 6.30pm.

There are one or two local channels that produce their own local news programmes, though I believe one station recently closed in Dunedin (TVNZ ditched regional news by 1990 - save for their own flirtation with local TV channels that briefly lasted in the mid-90s)

As far as surviving current affairs programmes on TVNZ, there's Seven Sharp - what could (charitably) be described as their answer to The One Show (co-presented by Jeremy Wells, a one-time Chris Morris wannabe who previously did a satire called Eating Media Lunch), the Sunday morning political programme Q&A and a Kiwi version of 20/20.
