RE: International News Presentation: Past and Present - theTVfan74 - 25-03-2024

Big changes from this week for Japanese news programs, starting off with Nippon TV (NTV), where a new look of news every., the broadcaster's evening newscast, was introduced alongside a newer set and news announcers.

Here's how the program aired to its regional affiliates in Iwate (1st video), Kansai Region (3rd video), and Yamaguchi (4th video)

A new intro of news zero, NTV's late-night newscast, will be introduced next week. Despite the scheduled refresh, it seems that the new set is now being used early (see next tweet).

Next, we have TV Asahi, where they introduced a new look for Good Morning!, to coincide with the launch of its Saturday edition later this week, replacing a weekly news discussion program.

TV Tokyo will also have a refresh of its news programming, where an overhaul of News Morning Satellite and a minor refresh of World Business Satellite will be aired. This will happen next week.

And last but not least, we have Fuji TV, where a logo refresh and possibly a new look for Live News it!, will also be introduced next week.
https://twitter.com/tvmania24/status/1769650851113808272

Like news zero, Live News it! already uses the updated set even though there's a scheduled branding refresh.

Seems some of the newer branding elements went out early in the Fuji TV affiliate for Iwate Prefecture on its regional news.

Wow SkyNews has done more coverage of the Baltimore bridge incident than MSNBC and NBC News Now. Morning Joe has been covering politics intensely. And NBC NewsNow was not covering the latest news. Only Sky was in seemingly rolling coverage. Only when a presser update started at 7:30 ET did MSNBC started talking about it and they were late to that. BBC and Sky were doing coverage. Very weird choice.

CBC in Canada has launched a new 24/7 FAST regional news channel for British Columbia. It simulcasts all live regional programming from CBC TV BC, and CBC Radio One Vancouver. It also reruns BC-made programs for CBC such as About That, and simulcasts The National. The channel appears to run only on weekdays.

Well guess it's a 24/5 channel then.

This is where Canadian and US broadcasters have an advantage though - they have so much local programming it isn't a big ask to fill out the remaining hours to create a "24/7" channel.

Interesting move. CBC News has been notoriously closed to viewers outside of Canada for live streams. Recently they have been opening the doors a abit. CBCExplore is their FAST channel but its basically a jukebox channel that airs some reports and docs plus CBC The National. I dont think Ive ever seen it join CBC News channel for a breaking story.

CBC BC 24/7 enters an already crowded arena. GlobalNewsBC was early out the gate ages ago. With an actual 24hr local news channel. Then you have the FAST channel from CityNews Vancouver. So it will be interesting to see how this fits. But its interesting. The Vancouver/BC market may be the test ground to see how CBC can roll these out across the country.

Regarding the UK.. Questions. So does that mean that the BBC Radio stations dont necessarily work alongside or collaborate with the Regional tv operations, sharing reports and reporters? If you notice the CBC FAST channels pulls in the TV operation and content from the CBC Radio stations. In theory this could be done UK, the infrastructure exisits on a local level. This is not a criticism, but how much output do you get from the local BBC tv operations? From an outside perspective.... it seems you get breakfast time updates/ 1 early evening broadcast/ 1 late broadcast per day....is that correct.

And a lunchtime one. Reporters work on radio, TV and online content.

The CBC Vancouver/BC radio simulcast looks much better than some of the others. Not French or New Zealand level where the radio studios are tidier for TV and no one is wearing those headphones but still a massive improvement on some markets. It makes you wonder if those big headphones and microphones are even necessary because Global TV newscasts are simulcast on radio stations and they don't need them.
The split screen is interesting because I've read the cameras are voice-triggered so they don't need to hire any additional staff. So does that suggest they have someone doing vision mixing (if that's the right term)?
CBC Vancouver/BC is also simulcasting their noon radio program instead of the news channel. Vancouver seems to be the testing place for the CBC or possibly the strongest market for the CBC even though Global is #1 in Vancouver. CBC Vancouver/BC had late night? weekend? newscasts before they were rollout to other stations if I'm not misremembering.

So we talking maybe 4+hrs also brekkie updates for the tv side..(Online content is pretty much standard these days for tv newsrooms.) Interesting. Seems like there could be opportunity to increase output. But it also depends on how big the on air staff is. But there is a germ of an idea there. But then again people will go nuts that the BBC is monopolizing the local news sector. Might cause issues.

According to a column on Turkish media site Medya Radar, CNBC-e returns in June. Names were also mentioned in the article, in particular Servet Yıldırım as the channel's editor-in-chief, which is in line with his current Twitter profile. Another one is current CNN Turk anchor Didem Tümer, but this hasn't been confirmed.

Bulgarian public broadcaster BNT has a new open for their main 8pm news. Instead of being surrounded by swirls a la BBC, the globe is now formed in blocks and under a brighter shade of blue. Lower thirds look more transparent alongside the updated wordmark.
