It’ll be interesting if there is any extra product placement as well as the shop front - you had characters walking around with empty Costa coffee cups, and then everyone suddenly had an EE router on the sideboard in the back of shot. Now presumably everyone will have holiday brochures on the coffee table?

Someone who has been on the Corrie tour in the last few days said the Rovers and Trim Up North both up for sale.

They successfully stop the developers moving in then, but I assume the old staff can't afford to buy the pub? Which means we can expect a new landlord.

ASHLEY! Got some sad news ... I SAY, SAD NEWS!

John Savident, who played butcher Fred Elliot in Corrie has passed away, aged 86.

Sort of related footnote:
He also had a brief role in Doctor Who, in the classic era, during "The Visitation", a serial featuring The 5th Doctor, when the Sonic Screwdriver was destroyed.

A shame they don't mention his recurring role in Mike and Angelo Wink

Also funny as Sir Frederick Stewart in Yes, Minister occasionally popping up as Permanent Under Secretary of the Foreign Office.

Not forgetting his role as the original King in the Blackadder pilot.

He also replaced Rudolph Walker as the invigilator in the re-shot version of the Mr Bean exam skit, filmed as a supporting feature for 20th Century Fox cinema releases.

He was in an episode of the first series of The Bill as well- as a foreign video shop owner, bizarre seeing him with that accent.

RE: Corrie - James2001 - 26-02-2024

That bizarre split screen phone call between Adam and Harvey in tonight's episode, I don't think Corrie's ever done anything like that before.

RE: Corrie - Stuart - 27-02-2024

They got round to the 'In Memory of John Savident' tribute caption before the end credits tonight. Smile

He was a great character actor, and certainly made the role of Fred Elliot all his own.
