These are very well done posts NB Guy but there is just one thing that I would love to know, given that I am very curious......why has Kazakhstan declared national mourning? Is it because of the death of a political figure or because of something else? What happened?

RE: International Presentation - orange - 12-06-2023

Wildfires killed 14 people over the weekend in Kazakhstan.

They're also rebranded, with the most notable case being TV Azteca Mundo, renaming as TV Azteca Internacional after 9 years.
And that's how the new Intercional channel looked:

Really not fond of the CGI symbol - looks too shinny and cheap, something easily replicable on Blender.

It started making its way into promotions as well:

No word on if their TV and radio stations will rebeand yet.

Another ARD member has rebranded today, even before SR had fully rolled out its updated brand: Hessischer Rundfunk (serving the wealthy region of Hesse and its outskirts) has unveiled a new logo, which is an updated version of its word mark, mixing elements from the previous 2004 logo and the well-known 1960s-dated word mark, but designed for better handling on digital screens and devices:

The new brand strategy was worked for three straight years (from mid-2021), with three shortlisted logos giving way to the new throwback logo:

Quote:Sourced from DWDL.de:

The changes are quite clear: three logos were developed, and the decision was made in favour of the "Basic" variant, which differs from the previous design by a bolder font and the omission of the arc, but the lower-case abbreviation "hr" is kept, as well as to the font. The logo is now "clearer and quickly comprehensible in the digital environment," explains the brand communication department in an internal letter that was obtained by DWDL. They are focusing here on the functionality, "without being irritated by a radical new rendition".

According to DWDL.de, a BBC Chameleon-like scenario was done for this, with workers being irritated over the high level of taxpayers' money being poured for this externally done revision:

Quote:Sourced from DWDL.de

[...] the decision to develop a new logo was also viewed critically by many internally right from the start. After all, the station has been on a strict budget cuts regime for a long time, and some of the workforce is irritated [...] At hr, they are trying to emphasize that no funds actually intended for the program were used and that the costs were shouldered purely by shifts in the communications budget. The vociferous complaint about the waste of taxpayers' money should not be long in coming on social media.

Since the changes compared to the previous logo are clear, the new logo and design can now be implemented gradually instead of introducing a new design at a large price. This should help keep costs under control. Most of the measures will also be implemented in-house, but an external designer was consulted when developing the new corporate design. hr did not want to quantify the expenses incurred in this connection, nor the total costs.

During the next few weeks, the HR websites and apps will get the new logo, with TV and radio channels due during the course of the second half of the year.

In Colombia, RCN Televisión had a new look, going flat with purple and bright teal:

The colours look Premier League to me, even down to the foreground/background arrangement.

Meanwhile, EBS in Korea may have a little refresh up on their sleeves: The startup sequence after national anthem is updated, as well as the fonts for EBS1 and 2 (mostly for DOGs, as generic EBS idents are used across the channels from what I've found).

In Indonesia, family/general entertainment channel RTV has a new look back in mid-May, with flat shades of purple and a colourful rotating cube:

In Australia, 10Shake, the amalgamation of Nickelodeon and MTV/Comedy Central, is getting replaced on FTA with a newly relaunched feed of Nickelodeon. The noteworthy thing about this however is that the Nick at Nite block, which existed since the feed's original launch, is being revived.

Unknown what's going to happen to the Nick Jr feed, given that there's indications that feed will just merge back into the main Nick feed, plus it's unknown what's going to happen with the New Zealand feed.

RE: International Presentation - orange - 22-06-2023

Would probably be a wise move for 5 to do the same with something like 5Select? Without getting into the realm of fantasy, I’m wondering if it would be more profitable to do that especially now CITV is seemingly going.

I’ve been thinking premium channels becoming FTA might be the next move in general - they’d serve as a window shopping experience for their streaming services like Paramount+. I can absolutely imagine MTV doing that too and taking 5Star’s place - it’s not exactly a channel I think many are chomping at the bit to subscribe to Sky or VM for.

RE: International Presentation - Kunst - 23-06-2023

Yes, but I can't see MTV becoming a FTA channel for now to be honest, Channel 5 is the more popular brand in the UK.
MTV is pretty moribund in the UK.

But as for Nickelodeon? Paramount may well take the opportunity to buy the CITV frequency/LCN on Freeview for Nickelodeon, or perhaps merge 5Select with 5Star, although I don't think so .

What's there to lose so much? More competition for POP, and clearly pay TV is not as attractive as it once was.

Nick Jr (+1, 2) and Nicktoons would remain on pay TV as the other pay TV channels.
