This isn’t a good example, as I’m sure coverage would be maintained for something like this.

Apparently this is the type of event that its coverage suits international audience as well - not only soon-to-be-merged BBC World News carries this, but also CNN International, making a special opt-out (as if it was "CNN UK", not CNNI). Acknowledged, though, that after Sturgeon's press conference concluded and Max and Bianca discussed it, they switched to a totally different presser - by NATO's Stoltenberg about Ukraine.
France 24 English has it as a leading story at the top of the hour and a breaking news ticker all the time. Al Jazeera though sticks with its own schedule.

BBC World broke away at half past the hour for World Business Report, followed by Sport Today, and Kasia Madera interrupted that to go to NATO.

Not sure how long Sturgeon spoke for in total and how much of it BBC News Channel carried, but World took only 30mins.

Here's how BBC Scotland transitioned to the news coverage:

How exactly? With what journalists,  producers, presenter, director,  technical support staff required to deliver properly crafted Broadcasting content?

News and events that are most worth covering usually are the surprise events.

That's the problem with the supposed planned UK breaking news teams, which from insiders aren't as fleshed out as they'd like us to believe they are. They need to get on air in a timely manner - if they're already on air it's easy enough to pick it up as soon as the story breaks. If they're not they're either relying on it being covered by BBC World News until they get to air or apparently sitting around twiddling their thumbs as the rival channels cover it in detail and the BBC get to air probably at best half an hour later given it's not only a question of powering up the studio and getting a presenter in place but also deciding whether they need to go to air in the first place.

The morning is the main time it will be UK focused, albeit via a 5 Live simulcast

It does seem like something that’s worthy of breaking into BBC One Scotland for. Of course they’ll use this as an example of BBC Scotland coming into its own. But the reality in this case the Scottish audience would have been better served with a BBC Two Scotland taking the BBC One schedule and One Scotland covering it live. After all if it was the UK PM it would have been on network BBC One.
