Can’t see him moving to a competitor with his comments about Sky News being ‘the best news organisation in the UK’ but we’ll see.

And if anyone's ever wondered what the scripts look like, here they are:

He is 65 so maybe he is going to semi or fully retire and only do occasional work or no work at all.

I actually didn't twig that until you mentioned it and I watched it again. Well-spotted!

I don't mind admitting - personal biases in full effect - that I got a little misty-eyed there.

I don't think it was a reference to it, more just a good joke that he used 30 years ago and is worth doing again. Only a handful of people would know he did it before

The way in which he threw his papers on the floor would tell you that he has packed it in and heading out of the newsroom for good. What a classy guy.

I would hope that Dermot will be seen on our screens again with some of his former employers very soon. However if he is going away from broadcasting for good or not at all. I do wish Dermot the very best of luck with his future endeavours.

I might be reading too much into this, but he credits Sky News as 'the best organisation in the UK'. If he'd got a job lined up at another UK organisation like the BBC, ITV or even GB News, I doubt he'd have said that, as it wouldn't necessarily land well with his new employer. So I'd guess he's either packed it in for good, or he's off to an international channel like CNN or Al Jazeera.

is that still online anywhere? I know it used to be on TV Ark, but not at present.
