Some very unusual pairings there. Emma Crosby wasn't with the Beeb for very long, was she? I definitely do remember her there - she did the One on a strike day in November 2010 - but judging from those caps she seems to have been on quite a bit more than I thought. And Geoff Clark! Never knew he did a stint on the NC. (Is that TC7 he and Anita McVeigh were sat in?)

Quite poignant to see Rachael Bland (or Hodges, as she was back then) next to Anita in that last picture.

Phil only used to do Saturday afternoons on News 24 as he used to present weekday evenings on BBC World. In 2001, Mishal Husain became his replacement on World and Phil moved to weekday mornings on News 24.

Prior to Philip Hayton, Joanna worked with Ben Geoghegan on News 24 weekday mornings.
Was Philip on six days a week, then? You're lucky if you see a newscaster do a five-day week these days, never mind six!
Geoff and Anita were in N6 (complete with mismatched barco cube Big Grin ).

That still looks like it was taken as the camera was zooming in.

Also, who else remembers clock-gate of 2007? When the first set of VizRT graphics debuted and the News 24 on screen clock was placed outside the 4:3 safe zone so only those with a 16:9 telly or not using centre cut out could see it?

That sparked so many complaints it was moved to the right and ended up with a really strange black overlay in the end. Would be interesting to see the original 16:9 graphics again.

Phil Hayton quite regularly did a 6-day week in about 2001, give or take. When he was on World (the 2000-0100 shift) he was very occasionally covered by, for example, Peter Coe or Adrian Finighan. Once he switched to News 24 weekdays (0900-1300), again he would quite regularly present all week, occasionally being relieved by various male presenters such as Chris Eakin and others. He did News 24 Saturday afternoons (1300-1900) throughout that period as well! Eventually, I think he gave up his Saturday shift and focused more on weekdays.

Just stumbled across this video, I don’t think I’ve seen it before. Is it real concept? I really like the music, personally would be better used now than the current regional music.

Been going though my collection of VHS's came across Concorde the final flight - a News 24 Special, hosted by Jon Sopel, wonder how many times a program was labeled a News 24 Special that was broadcast on BBC 2 and BBC World

Jane Hill and Huw Edwards presented some of News 24's 2003 coverage of the Iraq War

It might have been this early relaunch that meant that WBR getting Loweified.
Managed to find my old recording of the 1997 World Business Report theme to compare to the version that was used from 2000 to 2013. It's still undeniably the flag-era tune, but the difference between the original and later versions is a bit bigger than I remembered. Both great though. The blue 'barcode' titles are still the definitive World Business Report look for me.

I think you might be getting confused there, DTV.

There was only ever one version of the WBR music from October 1997 until 2013. The second clip in your post is the 'end sting' of this theme.

The first clip in your post, whilst similar, is not WBR. It's the business sting that was used as part of news bulletins, e.g. The World Today.

Prior to October 1997, there had been at a couple of other themes used on WBR. The first was edited from a piece of library music and I think there was a clip of it on TV Ark several years ago.

You might be right, but the first clip is taken from an old Hum Productions video that purported to be the World Business Report titles, so their error if there is one. I was certainly under the impression that the theme was remixed for the Feb 2000 relaunch (also when it started being shown on News 24), though this must be seemingly wrong. The second clip is indeed the closing sting from the WBR package, but only because the opening version I have leads straight into a bed, which I felt was unnecessary.
