If the roll out is anything like its been managed already, I wonder if we'll end up with new titles but the old music, only for new music to appear 2 months later?

I know the BBC is a huge organisation but I honestly don't understand how ill co-ordinated this roll-out has been over the last 6 days. It's akin to those in charge being asleep at the wheel. At times, you wonder if they actually remember they're producing news for a visual medium here.

I agree though - ABC News down here in Australia managed to pull a full reset and rebrand everything overnight back in 2017

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate how big BBC News is, and their financial issues - and I know it's a bigger kettle of fish with the merging of WN, and the domestic NC , but for a smaller organization like the ABC to pull of a much more smooth rebrand, with consistency from the get go, it's honestly a shame the BBC couldn't do the same thing.

They've had almost 2 years since the introduction of Chameleon to pull a full rebrand off...

It can be done and there's no doubt about it. It's just that BBC got lazy and used to doing everything in 10 phases, under the eternal excuse of how big it is and all the pressures/financial issues it's facing. Guess what, everyone else has issues but still they manage to organize well and do it.

BBC was able to do it before but lost the leadership and organizational skills to do it in a recent decade or so.

In 2015 too One News in New Zealand rebranded which included a uniform brand across Breakfast, Midday, 6, Tonight and Te Karere all at once… come 2016 TVNZ rebranded it’s entire corporate identity, new corporate logo, 3 tv channel logos, 3 channel rebrands, ondemand, news websites and company websites and all of it changed the same day. Not a trace of any old logos or branding was seen on air again.

RE: BBC News Pres: Apr 2023 - Present (News Channel/BBC One) - Reith85 - 09-04-2023

I mean, I've flicked back and forth to BBC News (the merged channel) this afternoon and the flipper is stuck flipping between the word 'HEADLINES' and 'bbc.com/news' or just showing 'bbc.co.uk/news' all day. And it's been like that for 7 whole days now.

I know it's Easter. I know staff may be on holiday. I know staff have been made redundant. I know the BBC has nothing left in the kitty. But is there not a single soul at New Broadcasting House thinking that the flipper situation alone needs fixing in some way sooner rather than later, even if it meant that the white strap disappears completely temporarily? It's either laziness or incompetence or - I can totally believe it where today's BBC is concerned - both.

It's so embarrassing for what is meant to be a national and global broadcaster. And then you get those who are still in the building tweeting how successful the last week has been. An absolute farce.

It doesn’t look the best, but the flipper hardly makes the channel an embarrassment.

It’s one of those things that helps make it ‘feel’ like TV news rather than actually being an essential part of the product.

With the increased pacing of stories on the new channel its main reason d’etre is somewhat removed. I suspect they’re leaving it there so it pulls in stories from the website eventually.

The BBC countdown clock seems to be light grey/translucent.

It is visible but not ideal.

Sorry but it does I’m afraid. Not being able to get such a basic feature as a ticker working is the sort of amateur hour stuff that people used to laugh at GB News for when it first launched.

And it’s not just not working, as in removing it so it looks at least an intentional decision while whatever is preventing it from working is fixed. It’s currently flashing the word Headlines and the URL on an endless loop every 10 seconds. It looks terrible and clearly no one at the BBC cares. All a bit sad really.

Exactly. If they want to ditch the flipper, just deactivate it.

But in the past 7 days they can’t even make sure it won’t be in use again. From bulletins to pre-recorded programmes, it kept escaping from the coffin…

Or we’re actually watching the new series of Ghosts?

Or we’re actually watching the new series of Ghosis nobody working at the BBC anymore that cares about these things.
Apparently  It doesn't matter if it's Easter or a normal working day.

If there was an ounce of care that's gone into this chaos (yup, the word really fits) then it would never have gone ahead when it did.

Everyone seems to be on the same old repeat.

It's like watching '24' for the 24th time.

It’s not that good. Can we get Jack Bauer on the case? He could do a better job of running this new channel.

I still think there is some deliberate sabotage going on, trying to force a rethink at the top of the BBC. Hopefully it works.
