At the end of the filler the video looped for a few seconds as Red Bee tries to opt back into Studio C's feed.

Enjoy the new longer Chameleon version of the filler! This version has NO placenames cats cradle spinning around on the timelapse footage...

That filler would make a good countdown, I reckon. A nice change from the “look at our reporters reporting” style they’ve used for the past 15 years or so.

1) it's a UK focused output - basically, heads off the charge that UK audiences are being neglected in the changes. 
2) It's a way of generating UK focused soundbites whereas an Internationally focused bulletin just wouldn't have the space to do this sort of generating. 

That's the argument at any rate. Whether that actually happens...

It’s more like saving themselves from ofcom, and the editor can say we are offering Uk viewers premium content, but oh yeah you can watch it on bbc2 and listen on 5 live, the bbc taking the Mickey out of people who pay the license fee for a news channel.

Edit: Fortunately I have found a reliable ad-free version of the global BBC News channel this morning and have just caught the bulletin so thats good. We shouldn't have to bypass iPlayer just to watch BBC News

I agree - at least give UK viewers a choice. If you want to watch a radio phone-in on the TV, put Nicky Campbell on BBC 2. If you want a TV news bulletin on a TV news channel, then let the global BBC News bulletins carry on as normal on the UK output of the News Channel.
Don't force Nicky Campbell's phone-in on UK viewers on two channels simultaneously with no option to watch the global channel at all.

But Paul Royall called this "premium UK programming" on Newswatch so there won't be any backtracking.

I think it’s working quite well, the intro at TOH was seamless, the visualisation of the 5 live elements is good.

I agree with the earlier comments about why is there a need for it to be on BBC 2 and BBC news. Wouldn’t it better service to the audience to run the news bulletins on the news channel and give the audience the choice? Surely the argument about UK news content can be made to OFCOM across all BBC channels at any one time.

I'm surprised at how well this is working really. Somewhat wondering if it might have been better for sports programming to be moved off to a separate station and run 5 Live as a dual-platform service, instead of the current mess we've ended up with.

As a viewer, this is some of the most informed discussion I’ve seen on the Channel in a long time (regarding low traffic neighbourhoods). What’s more, the phone in works so much better than vox pops.

Agree that the option needs to be there, and this may be better on Two rather than on both. What is the world feed up to during the show?

I agree I think there should be the choice, ideally. That maybe it’s good BBC2 daytime programming to fill the hours

The costs reason (aside from the many political ones) is the Sport I think (and this is a guess, so please forgive me). I suspect they’re doing some pre-record of bits of the sport to meet the UK/Elsewhere sport rights situation.

If they have to do that, suddenly they’re not just passing the world feed and operationally maybe that needs extra people to run those play-ins?

I think it’s a shame though, as the UK got a better service when it got more global news.

0900-1030 is regular BBC News bulletins, 1030-1100 is Hardtalk.
Lewis Vaughan Jones is presenting this morning.

So no money is being saved by simulcasting the phone-in on BBC NC & BBC 2, it's just a way to get UK-specific hours onto the channel.

With the news headlines and sports news. They have visualised it with written headlines on screen. Perhaps it would be best to add video and have the presenters off screen reading the headlines if there is no autocue.
