Which highlights again how keeping BBC World talent was prioritised throughout the redundancy process.

Nothing wrong of course with some of them getting their opportunity to broadcast to a UK audience in daylight hours - it's the fact not a single one of the familar BBC News Channel UK talent who didn't already have a network or World role seemed to survive the cull.

Despite the very minor point regarding Westminster/Westminister - I actually think Nancy Kacungira did a great job and provided excellent coverage with intelligent questions. One to watch for the future I think.

Great to see Nuala McGovern on air tonight, first time since the merger, if I'm not mistaken.

In fact, no one we see on screen now is a ‘newcomer’ (apart from some of the producers who pop up randomly for about 15 minutes). And most of them are pretty good at what they do.

It’s just they seem to have been thrust into the limelight to replace the main faces we saw before the merger, with no explanation given.
Is there any reason why Martine, Anita etc haven't appeared since the the channels became one?

I would've thought we'd have seen them in some capacity by now.

The judgement calls by whoever are making decisions have just been really poor since the merger. 9am to 11am UK time is when viewership on the World feed is at its lowest! Why obsess with balancing World and UK news priorities during this timeslot?
Why not have the merged channel produce "premium UK content" on the World and UK feeds at that time instead of simulcasting a call-in show on the UK feed? I can't see how two hours of a news agenda similar to a BBC One bulletin or the old UK news channel on the World feed would be problematic at that time. Putting the effort to produce purely World News bulletins when no one's watching is absurd!

World Business Report is sponsored by a well known airline now but it’s not called world Business Report on air on the early shows.

According to Martine's Twitter, they're working out the details of what their role will be and they hope to be back on air soon. But beyond that....

They are still employed only they are not on air it’s a very muddled approach by Auntie Beeb either there are a channel focused on the world agenda or a news channel like Sky News where it’s Uk agenda spread to the world.

I went delve much into the conversations around presenters (as I know it is frouned upon by some people here). But I do wonder where Lucy Hockings is. They've launched the new show, BBC News Now, 3 weeks and still no sign of Lucy. I do wonder if they're planning on some changes to how they present these shows, and possibly she's practicing. Wishful thinking.

I think it's wishful thinking... The only glimmer of hope of anything changing is that the top dogs did say the channel would roll out and develop over time.

These Chief Presenters have been with the BBC for decades, certainly the majority of them and it's hard to believe they'll be content with how things have gone. The only presenter who seems totally at ease and happy with things is Matthew Amroliwala.

I don't watch it as I did once upon a time, certainly isn't playing on the wall at my office anymore. I dip in and out when alerted to events.
