You could be forgiven for thinking that BBC management are not really bothered about retaining the talent and experience of these anchors. Wasn't this channel supposed to be a merger of World News and the UK News Channel? The BBC it seems have treated it as the creation of an entirely new channel, with new staff all needing to apply for new jobs, which explains why so many of the UK NC staff left last April. It wouldn't be surprising if any of these 5 presenters now walk.

UK Politics is going to ramp up from the start of March, with the spring budget leading into crucial local and Mayoral elections in England on 2 May.
There's still a possibility of a snap General Election being called for May, but if not, the autumn is going to be mad for both UK and international news, with the US and UK elections expected within weeks or even days of each other. In a crucial year for global and domestic news, you'd think the BBC would be doing it all can to hold on to it's most experienced news anchors and presenters.

Possibly not the best screen capture from an interview on Breakfast, as it was taken on my phone of the TV. Looking in the background it looks like E might be partially stripped out, though I could be wrong.

Hard to tell, but can't really see anything missing - appears to be in mothball mode at the minute.

I wonder, since they are still employed and fully payed, do they still show up at BBC HQ everyday, just like when they were presenting?

From what I’ve been told I don’t think that’s the case and this is why some members of staff don’t really care about them anymore: newsroom staff has been working hard day in and day out while the 5 have been mostly at home (maybe not what they wanted of course).

If that's the case feels like a management tactic to break moral amongst the staff and lose them support.

Just another example though of how a decision justified as necessary to save money often ends up costing more money in the long run.

Yeah. I'm seeing that as well.

I could be wrong here but if you look at the Catwalk from that angle of Studio E; it appears that it could be going through it's refurbishment at the moment. There is a whole load of electronic equipment placed right on top of it's catwalk. But that side of the Catwalk was a pathway for reporters, correspondents or guests to turn up to tell their stories in the main presenting desk in E during it's network bulletins on BBC One or during it's bulletins on the old NC.

There used to be a screen there beside the presenter as well. I don't see it all now. Is that screen been physically taken out of E or is it still in there?

I could also ask were the BBC News network bulletins on BBC One coming from E this evening or were they broadcast live from B?

It's so hard to tell with it all in darkness, it looks like the back of the presenter screen still appears to be there, so it would seem strange to keep that up and deconstruct the set around it, but with the light and reflection I can't really tell.

I wonder how they'd handle things now if Studio B had a major failure (as has happened once or twice since it's launch). Previously, they relocated Network to studio E.

Now this isn't possible, I'd guess they'd relocate news channel to D, to allow Network and London to use C.

The pres geeks will like this one.

Really good use of studio B last night, with some different camera angles and lighting to boot...
