When they are lined up like that it really does look like PowerPoint’s template gallery.

What I still don’t understand is all the money spent on creating these logos and they are seen on the website. I’ve seen them a fee times when they mention the app on a network bulletin but that’s it. Surely if you create a logo to represent something you use it to represent it every where else it’s not “joining the dots”.

It’s starting to feel more and more that they are doing things like the spoons to make “viral moments” for social media but it just feels so forced and fake. You could see that Maryam was actually trying to break the spoon. The fact she kept talking over Uri and waving it at the camera just made it all the more cringe. The moments that really go viral are those moments that happen naturally, like the weather presenter up north announcing her niece’s surprise birthday party. You could see that wasn’t planned and was much funnier for it.

It really feels like the news channel has totally lost way. It’s lost its warmth and ability to connect with the audience. Some of people doing the opt out are really good but they’re not getting to the chance to shine because they’re stuck repeating the same story and unable to go over any of the other news. Then when you’ve go the chosen ones presenting they’re either lacking any personality or engagement or they’re constantly acting up for the cameras.

Then the pace and then having to listen to someone’s opinion on every story. I know they want to make it big in the USA but it feels like they’re turning their back on the UK audience, who without their money over the past 100years would mean they wouldn’t be in a position to chase these markets. Also, surely if you’re trying to break into a market you want to offer something different not more of the same? If you are just offering the same as they already have then why would they change. Their usp should be different

There was a special graphic just before the covid enquiry it was a red orangey gradient, never seen that before.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I've watched a few editions of the World Today and it seems to be really quite heavy on international news, with many live interviews with foreign correspondents (or clips from live interviews from the previous hour), reports on global news and some culture at the end.

Yes, Maryam Moshiri breaking a spoon was unnecessary, but I don't think that's a fair representation of the whole program, and whilst there absolutely needs to be more creativity with use of the studio etc, from a news perspective it's successful, in my opinion. It's certainly better than an average hour, and much better in terms of straight news than the Context.

19:16 – UK news in brief as world viewers are on break
19:17 – Navalny funeral report, then repeat of interview of Russia author/expert
19:24 – Breaking news of US air drops in Gaza mentioned
19:26 – UK weather
19:30 – Headlines
19:31 – Breaking news of shooting in Clapham mentioned
19:31 – Live interview about weather in Asia with forecaster in studio
19:33 – Repeat of interview with correspondent in Tehran on Iranian elections (a rare thing)
19:37 – Repeat of interview with correspondent in Mexico city on Mexican elections
19:40 – Across the UK segment as world viewers are on break
19:42 – Explainer then report on India elections
19:50 – Live feed of White House press conference on Gaza

Edit: I realise I have quoted a part of DTV's post about Sky, but similar criticisms have too been aimed at the BBC.

A few months ago. Newscast, Americast, Ukrainecast and the Today Podcast (don't think I'm forgetting any) now all share that new studio
