I remain unconvinced that the Nicky Campbell show will work on TV, but this Rowley interview has worked well, and I'd like to see them do more of this sort of visualised radio on the UK stream.

Or even just the basic thing of cutting clips to the length of the scheduled breaks. No reason at all for these things to be cut off early, aside from when they have to come back quickly for breaking news.

This is the thing that confuses me... they always did timed 1-minute headline sequences on BBC World News at half past, so it shouldn't be too difficult to put together a similar sequence for a UK roundup to cover the international commercial breaks.

Maybe something similar to what BBC Breakfast did when some of the English regions were on strike, which was to have a summary of regional headlines. They managed to fit in quite a few regional items, albeit probably in a longer time slot. This sort of thing could potentially even be pre-recorded by a separate presenter/reporter, and updated a few times during the day where necessary.

I notice the second half hour of Lucy Hockings programme today is very UK heavy News wise, however I am not sure whether some of the stories covered require as much priority as given, for example a piece about brass bands given more of a priority over the port of Dover News.
I get this week that typically this week is a quiet News week with parliament not sitting, it may even ne the motivation for launching now. I guess we will wait to see how this is covered in 2 weeks time, politics live is only on air at lunchtime and alot of the main developments happen after this time.

Is it a case of whoever does 7-9am on "World" now stays on for the rest of the day as the UK opt out presenter? Lewis did that on Monday and Luxmy appears to be doing the same today.

I must say, it is nice to see Matthew Amroliwala on domestic output again after all these years. He really is an excellent presenter. Shame about the circumstances it's happened in, though.

It seems that on Sundays, Breakfast on BBC News (UK) now finishes at the same time as on BBC 1 - this schedule for Sunday 16 April shows Breakfast ending at 7:30am.

The 10pm bulletins are also only 10 minutes long on 15 & 16 April to allow for an extended documentary.
