Brexit may have ruined a lot of things, but the relationship between the UK and Republic of Ireland has always been strong in recent years.

RTE of course have little cash, so staying in Studio 3 at RTE and taking the BBC feed is probably their cheapest option, than renting a small studio in London, or even having a temporary studio near the abbey.

Television signals from Northern Ireland were very hard to receive in Dublin and most parts of the Irish republic in 1953. Remember that Belfast transmitter opened in May 1953 was always to be temporary. Maybe viewers (if there were any who could afford it back then) in Dundalk for example might have been lucky to pick up a weak signal.

It wouldn't be until the Divis transmitter opened in July 1955 that the Irish republic had any possibility of receiving BBC signals way down south, well into Dublin - the Dublin city landscape by the late 50s was famous for having HUGE aerials erected on chimney's and tops of houses, to the point it actually caused problems for airplanes landing and taking off at Dublin airport.

Spill over signal from VHF and later UHF transmissions was always interesting, I am surprised those signals got into the republic so much, but according to some articles, by the early 1960s, over 65% of the Irish republic were able to receive both BBC and UTV from Northern Ireland, or BBC and ITV Wales (TWW later Harlech) from Wales.
Slightly off topic but back in the days of the Paramount Channel's text service's forum a contributor from the West Wales coast would talk about receiving Network 2 (as it then was).

French speaking Belgium will have the Coronation on RTL-TVI from 11.30am local time with Alix Battard, RTBF La Une is also covering the event.

That is correct. Many viewers in Wales and south west England could receive RTE television and radio channels. In fact there is a clip from the RTE television version of Points of View called " Mailbag" which had a letter from a viewer in Penzance, Cornwall, and where they were placed, they couldn't receive signals from the UK transmitters, due the terrain blocking their signals, but could easily receive RTE One and RTE 2 which they said enjoyed watching.

I have just found that clip - here it is on YouTube, and the item about the viewer from Cornwall is at the 2 minute, 35 second mark.

Neighbouring Netherlands airs it from 10 to 4 on NPO1, under the NPO Journaal umbrella. They'll also have a special bulletin for 40 minutes after 5pm news, then a documentary at 7. Radio 1 dips in from 12 to 2 under the NOS name instead. Not too sure about the commercial stations.

No timeslots prealotted to the ceremony on HK TV stations at the moment (at least on TVB, as ViuTV and HoyTV only have listings up to next Friday now), though ViuTV6 is airing Charles: The New King this and next Friday, presumably taking the two-parter from C4.

While we're at it, Germany seems to broadcast the coronation in open arms:
[list]
[*]ARD airs it from 9.30 to 4 plus a documentary afterwards;
[*]ZDF has a summary of it at 7.25;
[*]Back-to-back royals night on NDR in Hamburg: the highlights of the ceremony, then the ARD documentary, and one on the late Queen;
[*]Similarly, Sat.1 is in full royals lineup in the daytime: A QEII documentary preceding the coronation, then one on Diana and Charles himself;
[*]On RTL, it's early morning: A 5-part documentary on the entire family from 4.50 before the ceremony, and - you guessed it - a Charles documentary afterwards.

Anyone know if it will be shown in Dutch speaking Belgium?

RE: Coronation of King Charles III - thegeek - 30-04-2023

One of the BBC's red button feeds will be 'accessible commentary', provided by Radio 3's Petroc Trelawny.

He was the voice of BBC One's broadcasts of the Lying in State of the Queen last year.

I just noticed even if you dont have Sky Q UHD, Sky will have the coronation in 4K on Youtube:

"If you're not a Sky customer you can still watch in Ultra HD if you have a compatible TV - you'll just need to watch via the Sky News YouTube channel."

Anyone seen a promo yet for the Sky News coverage with Kay and co?
