The use of the main BBC News branding in the studio is also because they've now decided to use that instead of keeping the Breakfast branding visible when the late morning News Channel weather forecasts are done from the studio.

I don't quite understand why they don't just make the shot tighter - nothing is added by having branding around the edge.

Jon Kay has taken to Twitter to let everyone know he’s on holiday for two weeks

Normally the most that would happen when you go on holiday would be a story in the Express about how he’s been replaced

I suspect a story in the Express about him being replaced is the least of his worries.

Plymouth have updated their background graphic for the Breakfast bulletins this morning. Have the other regions/nations done the same yet?

Not in the North West, our Breakfast bulletins are still coming from the broom cupboard.

In Plymouth within an hour they'd already ditched the rather distracting 'moving blue ball' Rolleyes

It's now just a nice static graphic. Big Grin

EDIT: I spoke too soon. The 'blue ball' is back in action at 07:58. Confused

I think it's probably because it is a concave screen. If you zoomed in much further you would lose the edge perspective which informs that the screen is curved. Without it, the map would just look weird.

Breakfast moved to BBC Two this morning due to Women's World Cup on BBC One. Here is how it was handled:

Were the opt slots left for the Nations who could use them or cancelled across the board?
