Viewers are on for much longer than that now….

More set background funnery in Salford this morning. This was for a report about the forest in Antrim used for 'Game of Thrones'. Apparently it's quite a tourist attraction.

Interesting seeing Carol in the Salford studio this morning - maybe more regular viewers of Breakfast than I can point out if this has been a regular thing recently. And if not, any particular reason why she's up there this morning?

She usually presents from the studio at least once a week since the new set was brought in. Normally it’s a Wednesday when this happens. They often have the weekend presenter in the studio on one of the days, not sure if it’s every weekend though.

I think the weather is only presented from Salford at the weekends if Simon King is on duty because he's been based up there since Five Live moved north.

Presumably there is nothing to say more of the team could be based in Salford in future.

I presume the screen Carol appears on when down the line isn't possible to use for weather? It appears that it would be a more conventional shot as opposed to the curved screen.

Matt has been in Salford on Friday on a number of occasions as well and he is largely considered the weekend presenter so that's why he is there.

As for presenting the weather from the screen they do the DTL from I assume they can not as the camera would have to be behind the sofa so there is no tidy way this can be established.

It wouldn't really make sense to use that screen when you have a lovely faux-catwalk and big screen at the other end of the studio.

I think that whole space in Salford is used extremely well.

Have to agree - does anyone know how the floorspace of the Salford studio (which I don't think is that big at all) compares to the floorspace of NBH E? Seems it would be a great template to use if they ever do refresh the set in there - and with a live newsroom backdrop would be much nicer than B for the majority of bulletins.

If they do end up moving the 1 to Salford (and no clue if that will happen or was ever on the table), I can certainly see it fitting in well there with a warmer feeling than the stark B we have now.

Indeed. Wonderful stuff. Cybermen and K9 too.

I also liked that they didn't bother removing the models of the cuddly Adipose when they started talking about the budget headlines.  Big Grin
