To be honest I think they always use a recorded forecast done by Carol in the mornings. It’s only more noticeable since she’s in Salford at the moment rather than London.

Everything about BBC News from 1999 to 2003 was practically faultless

- Every station and programme: BBC One bulletins, Breakfast, BBC News 24, BBC World, regional bulletins
- The sets
- The music (titles, countdowns, stings)
- The graphics
- The presenters

Everything just seemed more consistent and simpler, without looking fake and artificial.

Have just watched Clean Feed's video of excerpts from this morning's programme.

https://cleanfeed.thetvroom.com/18050/news/template-1-2/

The interview with comedian Nick Mohammed was wrapped-up in time for the 08:59 time-check before the NC opted out. After the full-screen sting, John & Sally returned to talking about the lead news story.

I hope that it is a permanent change to now no longer have interviews straddle the 9am TOTH. The fact that it was ever a thing was always idiotic, and I would still cheerfully slap whoever was responsible for introducing the format of 9am-straddling interviews in the first place.

Think for me, the backdrop of MediaCity doesn’t fit in the studio. I don’t know why. It’s a total personal preference. Other than that I think the studio is ace. I did prefer the purple aspects we have seen but again personal preference.

Could they not pop a BBC News logo next to the AR clock outside the studio?

New Breakfast logo that gradually appears in schedules and on iPlayer

I note that the faux outdoor view this morning had a pure bright blue daytime sky from 6am, in tandem with the reality of sunrise occurring circa 5am at this time of year (and therefore there won't still be any traces or orange/pink etc "sunrise" hues in the real sky over Salford by 6am).

This makes me hopeful that the backdrop will now be appropriately light/dark in tandem with reality, across the seasons of the year and the time of morning.

I don't think that the dark mornings in winter would be the same problem they were for Daybreak, as many shots on Breakfast are now framed to include LED walls showing e.g. the orange & blue graphics and/or story-specific images etc either side of the faux window view. This brings brightness and colour in, even if the outdoor view is dark.

Alternatively, there could be the compromise of the darkest version of the view that they would show being from the early-mid part of the sunrise period (i.e. when it's at least 25% light, or whatever) even at times of the morning/year when the real world is still pitch black outside. Once the real world starts getting 51%+ light during the course of the morning, the faux backdrop can then start lightening up in tandem with reality.

I wonder why, as a true cost saving exercise, they didn't just simulcast the Today programme 😉

Looks good! Really modern, ditto with others about the background but definitely an improvement!

I knew I'd seen that circle in one form or another on Breakfast before.

It's like being transported back in time to the 90s.

And look at the purple and orange colour scheme on the walls behind the presenters in the wide shot too.

You won’t get branding like that anymore!

I'm not sure that it is Breakfast that has caused love weather to be dropped on the news channel more likely now the weather has to fill a fixed duration pre-recording might have allowed weather shifts to be altered.
