BBC wise this was barely an issue in 1998 so it shouldn't be an issue two years on from a 2021 rebrand.

It’s also worth remembering that in the late 80s/early 90s, the vast majority of people only had access to four TV channels, five or six radio stations, printed media and that was about it. Getting your brand right wasn’t half as important as it is now.

Paul Merton wore a badge with a BBC Two logo on it during Have I Got News For You this evening. I don't know if it was the correct logo or not as I don't follow that kind of television presentation stuff, I find it quite boring to be honest.

Quite. Back in 1997, a lot of programmes whose TX dates were known in advance actually switched logos halfway through a series to coincide with the change. But then, that is what you get with MLN.

Plus, at least two BBC regional news programmes reedited their titles to include the new logo for Saturday 4th October, despite having rebrands planned for the following Monday. And that isn't as simple as changing a template, as it would be today. That would have involved going back to years-old physical mastertapes, purely for two or three weekend bulletins.

See the latest run of House of Games has, sadly unsurprisingly, not just the old BBC logo but what I think it the discontinued BBC Scotland logo too (the diagonal stripes), though actually that logo is perfect for the chameleon look as the BBC logo could easily morph into it.

It seems unlikely we’ll see the new logo on many new programmes until the end credit and branding guidelines are updated.

How was that missed on the rebrand, surely they should have been updated when the new logo debuted, then again many things should have happened.

They should have been updated months prior to the rebrand, or at least when the rebrand date was known, that all programmes delivered after that date, or at least a sensible grace period (3 months rather than 3 years) should have the new logo.

Fair enough to have exceptions for shows made before that date that had no confirmed transmission date or for series that might span the date but really it's a simple instruction - indeed a very simple instruction compared to some end credit and production endcap branding guidelines.

Indeed given a key part of the rebrand is the logo appearing centre top you'd think they'd want to redesign the end caps to match that as well.

Wolff Olins have rebranded recently, and I am saying this in this thread, because Wolff Olins have also introduced a new showreel, which included elements of the new BBC branding in it, alongside other bits of work.
