This is interesting as my understanding was LNN were ready to go 16:9 as far back as 2001. I read some time ago at TV Forum that ITV/ITN put them off doing so. I don't know why. Perhaps ITN thought it would make opting between 4:3 national news and 16:9 London news awkward? Though LNN were allowed to produce the weather in widescreen.

Same also went with the BBC for a good number of years of course.

GMTV got a 'good' rate for their facilities , but as part of that they were reminded that outside their broadcast hours TLS could market their studio  facilities to other 3rd parties.

Apparently not because it’s on right now on ITV1! I was not expecting that.

I wasn’t expecting a 2 hour programme from 2007 to be aired in primetime and delay the news by almost a hour! That’s rather refreshing from ITV1. Almost like something you’d see on a FAST channel.

It's easier for ITV to fit this kind of thing around Christmas and I dare say it has rated better than some new show.

A number of episodes of Parkinson are now on ITVX:

ITV doesn't have the best selection as Parky was only at ITV from 2004 until 2007, whereas the BBC have a vast archive of truly classic Parkinson shows from 1971 to 1982 and 1998 to 2003 to pick from.
