Thanks - a very noticeable change towards the end of the C4 era to just over annunciate everything.

I do think they should have replaced him, although I think C5 should have done that in 2011 too. Really though the narration throughout the episode is unnecessary now - if instead they use him just to top and tail the show that could work much better.

Actually given that AJ and Will will be presenting a live show everyday a highlights show airs I'm surprised they're not using them in the narration role for the daily shows as well.

She used to do the narration on the eviction shows on the early series (and there was usually only a few minutes of highlights in those years as well- I have a recording of the first evection of series 2 and the house footage section was very short).

I’m sure it probably changed from time to time. But I seem to remember Davina would narrate the highlights within the live eviction shows.

A grand total of 7 minutes of house highlights there, seems bizarre there was so little.

The show was structured that way though so no format points occured the day before the eviction, unlike later years when the tasks would often run into Thursday or even Friday.

And remember for series 1-4 you had just half an hour of highlights a day, which frankly covered things better than the later expansion to an hour often did. They knew how do edit the show back then, and hence the eviction show was a show in it's own right with features throughout rather than just highlights and phone numbers as it was in the later years. It went downhill when they decided to present it from within the crowd.
