I actually prefer the ITV Reem numerals currently used on 2, 3 and especially 4. These new ones just seem a bit . . . meh!

We'll have to wait to see how it all works on screen.

Just caught the last bit of Corpse Bride on ITV2 and the continuity announcer mentioned I’m a celeb tonight on ITV1… not sure if that’s what they always say or not to advertise shows on the main channel… unless tonight could be the rebrand?

ITV 2 has always said ITV for the main channel so calling it ITV 1 would be different.  I think a lot of continuity is recorded so it could have been planned for the 3rd.  Relaunching ITV 1 at the start of one of their biggest shows would certainly help get the message out there.  But I'm not so sure it will happen tonight.

They usually just say ITV, so maybe a slip of the tongue or something else?

Could be something, could be nothing. Channel 4 did their rebrand in 2015 at 9pm (before an episode of Educating Cardiff). We’ll have to wait and see.

It’s one of the channels biggest yearly events so it would make sense to do it then, although i’m not holding my breath.

It probably won’t happen. I think SOMETHING might have been hinted or leaked if it was to happen.

But it is a good opportunity for them to do so…..

Or maybe they’ve just been told to start phasing it in? At least from when referring to it from the other channels.

Take a look at the arm on the 1, the crossbar on the 3 or the angle on the 4. Just to name a few key differences.

Completely agree with you here :-)
I'm not saying it is MT Grotesque Bold Extended but I do think whichever font family they have created in-house has been heavily influenced by it.

The 3 numeral and 'Be' is suspiciously close...

I was also looking at the font Britanica as a potential match - it came up on WhatTheFont! when I was looking for the itvX font. It’s definitely been customised, whatever it is - but I thought the awkward arm of the 1 was down to whoever traced the logos in the leak, but it actually looks like it might potentially be part of it.

Oh yeah, the 3 and 4 from Britanica look very close too! Another similar grotesque style font family. It's definitely a custom typeface because it makes sense to do this over licensing an existing font family.
