That looks quite different to what I imagined. The pres on screen may be quite different to what we've seen in the trailers.

Will it finally become ITV 1 NI? (The upcoming rebrand would be a great time to do it).
Will NI content be available on the Hub/X? (Could have its own Fast channel/section instead of just on the clunky 'itv.com/utvprogrammes' site)
If the UTV remains, what will its on-screen look be?
Whatever happens in NI, let us hope that it'll at least be entirely consistent across 100% of the branding and presentation elements - rather than continuing with anything like the current hotchpotch of being just "ITV(1)" for some things and just "UTV" for others.

The fact that the decision-makers at ITV plc spectacularly failed to introduce some form of *total* branding consistency for NI in the same breath that the decision was made for the "temporary" use of ITV continuity in NI to become permanent, will forever remain a woeful episode as far as I'm concerned.

If the impending new look doesn't sort this out, one way or another, I might just explode.

I also regard the fact that the "1" was ever dropped from the main ITV network's on-screen name (when ITVs 2, 3 and 4 continued to exist, and weren't either closed down or given non-numeric new names) to be an eyeroll-worthy decision. I am therefore glad that common sense has *finally* prevailed (albeit that 9 years is far too long a wait) with the "1" set to soon be reinstated.

If they need a new name for UTV Life, my suggestion would be "Night Life" (with a logo that somehow emphasises the first two letters - "N.I.")

I wonder what the news branding would be, 'ITV News UTV Live' as is doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, what other form of 'ITV News ___' could they use instead of the generic sounding ITV News NI name?

Think speculation about UTV has been done ad nauseam on TVLF and TVF. Let's just wait and see what happens and not start down the path of possible permutations of programme titles etc etc.

RE: ITV (Wider Group) Branding - UTVLifer - 09-11-2022

I agree with the user who said that it would be nice if UTV/Northern Ireland programmes could be made available on ITVX, instead of the really clunky and difficult to find page on the ITV website, ideally with the same being done for Welsh programming like Wales This Week and Sharp End as well as the - albeit more limited - local programming from ITV Border

RE: ITV (Wider Group) Branding - Stuart - 10-11-2022

Slightly off topic, but as ITV2/3/4 HD are now FTA, I was expecting Sky to do the 'HD Swap' to place them closer to the top of the EPG.

I dispensed with the HD sub a few years ago because I'm happy with just the FTA HD channels, but have now had to add ITV 2/3/4 HD to my favourites which are in the 800s range. Confused

Sky have always done the 'swap' for PSBs, but technically these aren't PSBs, so they're not bothering. Would it not be up to ITV if they wanted to have them 'swapped' on Sky?

I would imagine it's ultimately Sky's decision which numbers they give which channels on their own platform.

Actually, very far from it. Sky have very little say over where channels are placed on their platform. There are very strict rules which is why when they reorganise it, there are extensive discussions to obtain agreement from broadcasters who actually 'own' their EPG slots.

Most HD channels appear in the 800s range if you don't have the HD sub, except normally for those which are FTA.

My point was that I am surprised Sky haven't done the 'HD Swap' or why ITV have not asked them to do it. It seems odd for ITV to make those channels FTA but not promote them more on the Sky platform.

Things still looking good for 15th November. These things can always change, as we know. But 15th is looking likely just now.
