Tonight's Chase episode looks to be a COVID era one, with a larger desk and screens between contestants. Thought they would have been consigned to the archives for good now.

That sounds like a tiebreaker on Only Connect if Victoria designed them!

They're back to repeats at the moment which seem to be going through the covid era series now.

Think the show is in repeats right now.

Yeah, ITV have periods of "New" episodes and then a batch of repeats.
The current episodes are from 2021 according to One Question Shootout.

Not sure how far back ITV go with regards to repeating this, but I think I've seen a few pre Darragh Ennis episodes before, though they seem to be phasing those out now and of course they become Challenge exclusives after a certain point...

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Brekkie - 20-12-2023

Presumably there is the intention episodes of the daytime shows are repeated once in the regular slots and then move on to be picked up by Challenge etc. though I'm sure some episodes of the daytime quizzes have been repeated at least twice (I swear the first series of Lingo must have been shown 3-4 times now). ITV do seem to have moved away this autumn from being quiz repeat heavy on weekend afternoons too but that may just be thanks to the Rugby World Cup taking up a couple of months, although with racing and their rugby contracts there are fewer and fewer weekends without live sport of some sort on ITV1 nowadays.

Tonight's Mastermind contestants aren't that good - has there ever been an episode before, where TWO contestants score no points at all on their so-called specialist subject?

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - Neil Jones - 22-12-2023

According to Wiki before tonight nobody since 1972 (when Mastermind first started) has scored 0 points for the whole game.

The previous record before tonight was a score of two in the specialist round - which was set in 2009, presumably on a civilian episode.

A celebrity edition last year saw somebody get just one point in the specialist round apparently.

At the other end of the scale the all time record score is apparently 41, which was set in the 1990s.

RE: The TV Gameshow Thread - JAS84 - 22-12-2023

Yeah, that was Kevin Ashman, who later became an Egghead!

Apparently nobody had zero in a round until 2016, when Kadeena Cox got zero on general knowledge, but 3 on her specialist subject.

I noticed in tonight's Jimmy Carr's Celebrity I Literally Just Told You, Maggie Aderin-Pocock didn't feature as a question writer. This is a shame if she isn't part of the series as her & Jimmy shared some good banter in the first 2 series. She is probably too busy in her work as a space scientist to appear on the show. They also used some different background atmospheric tension music during the questions and Judi Love wasn't the announcer. I didn't mind this bit to be honest.

Emy is also gone, although she had been noticeably downgraded in the second series compared to having equal billing with Maggie in the first. Gama who featured tonight I think was in the last series too, but the banter just isn't there. TBH it feels like a deliberate decision to put the focus more on Jimmy Carr. It is a great format though - assume another full series will follow.

Didn't realise either how long The Big Fat Quiz had been going too - started way back in 2004. They've recorded a Big Fat Quiz of Telly edition in addition to this years addition.
