Not sure "Radio 2 2" would have the budget. From the interviews with Gambo the first they knew they'd be part of this planned station was when the press release was issued.

Did the plan have a specific mention of how the £3 Million combined budget of the stations would be split?

Well we don’t know what “returning to afternoons” would entail - might have been a pre-recorded programme. In any case it sounds like it wouldn’t have happened

Yes it'll be for the spin off, why would they get him involved and put him on any other timeslot?

Another clip in that series give a bit of a hint as to his health issues and possibly what happened last Monday... he had a heart bypass last year, presumably that was why he was off the air for a few weeks.

If the recording of his friend is to be believed, Steve was on the same money for his two weekend shows as he previously was for weekdays. So it’s likely they could have negotiated getting him on afternoons on the spin-off station as part of his package for not much extra.

I'm presuming the Mark Wells who presumbly said all this is the same Mark Wells who produced TOTP for a few months in 1997 between Ric Blaxill leaving and Chris Cowey taking over?

Talking of pre-recorded when was Steve last live on the radio? Even his afternoon show was largely pre-recorded.

Last I can think of was when he covered for Jo Whiley for a week of 'Steve Wright's Summer Nights' back in the summer.

Liza Tarbuck receiving a lot of very well-deserved praise on social media for her hosting of this morning's Love Songs, full of tributes and messages from listeners and a very emotional show overall.

She absolutely deserves it, done an incredible job considering the emotional circumstances.
