I’m surprised Top of the Pops 2 hasn’t been mentioned and he presumably managed to got more of his personality over on that than he did when he hosting the main show. It was never the same when he stopped doing it.

*I didn’t realise someone did it before him.

Though the pre-Steve Wright TOTP2 was a different beast anyway, the first 2 series included performances and the chart from that week's regular TOTP, alongside various features (some of which were archive, some weren't), the third series was the same, just without that week's TOTP stuff, it was only the 4th series when Steve Wright took over it became the familar show.

Given the events of this week, quite the sight seeing Gary and Steve side by side on Top of the Pops given Gary was the one leading so many tributes across TV programmes:

Only three years of an age difference between them too.

A fascinatingly brilliant behind the scenes clip recording the beginning of one of Steve's Radio 1 programmes here. (Apologies if this has already been shared here in another form).

Interesting… according to this clip, Radio 2 asked Steve Wright if he’d consider bringing back his afternoon show a few days before he passed away https://twitter.com/StalledMovie/status/1758977108288667960

I think that would be referring to the new radio 2extra station rather than the main radio 2

As I said on Twitter, I think that would have been for the forthcoming Radio 2 spin off.
