Leafing through TV Live like a magazine (as one does from time to time). I'm looking through the 2009-2013 era. Is it me or does the field of depth just play tricks on one's mind. The virtual architecture is just crazy.
The only nice part was the dynamic intro, which included headline item pictures, the dramatic music which all 'opened' into the virtual set.
The basic 'architecture' of the VR environment didn't resemble anything other than a car park, and the background perspectives changed so often that a viewer could easily feel dizzy. It was a nice try at something different, but I prefer what they've got now.

It does look very OTT, but was during a time ITV decided to be even more on the front foot with the 'ITV News' brand (one of the reasons they ditched the revamped self-contained News at Ten). The yellow and black colour scheme coincided with an ITV1 rebranding too so seen in that context you can see the reasoning. Excellent music, mind.

I vaguely recall that in management speak, that was a "fly-through" featuring "hero panels". Or something like that!
I wasn't a fan of this era, but that may be because it replaced something vastly superior rather than anything in particular about that branding itself.
My favourite design remains the look of the daytime bulletins from 1995-1999. Sheer elegance.

I have a soft spot for the branding used here. Although the move to the atrium in 1992 added a more dynamic feel, I did quite like the simplicity of the graphics/animations and the synthesised theme music shown here. I like the way the logo animates in time with the music.
On an editorial note, it’s amazing how much they packed into the old 5.40pm bulletin. I think it’s fair to say that they achieved more in 15’ than they now do in 60’. Less is more seems to be the lesson here!

ITN Archive's YT channel has been uploading some interesting material (chances are you've already seen 'The ITN Story' documentary - first shown in 1977 but appears to have been filmed the year before, might have been intended to mark their 21st anniversary, infact)
Their latest upload appears to be surviving footage from their Apollo 11 moon landing coverage in 1969 - alas, no studio Pres but worth a look:

It was a really good documentary, even using miniature models (yes, really!) to recreate the night of the incident.

It won't be a co-incidence that they've uploaded some of the bulletin then, presumably it will have been digitised for the documentary and so it was then available to put online

I recalled a thread on TV Forum regarding a search for the last time the Non Stop theme was used on an ITN bulletin. The latest anyone got was 1st May 1982.
