Massive ITV rebrand and I've honestly felt like I have nothing to say about it. Just really bland IMO.

I really dislike them bringing back the name ITV1. It just weakens the brand of the main channel IMO and conjures up bad memories of the Charles Allen days.

It's just all kinda odd this time round, I know it was never going to be a full rebrand like 2013 was, but this time just feels a mess, rushed out, cheap which is such a shame. ITV in the past have always been known for some great design aspects. Ok their idents haven't always been the best, but usually the surrounding pres is the best of all the main channels. Now though nothing really stands out. The new font is bland and doesn't look good on screen, the ECP just looks a mess, the menu looks boring, the promo endcaps look kinda dated. I think the only decent thing is some of the transitions with the numerals moving on screen.

I honestly don't even know if a few tweaks would be enough. Almost feels like they should just stick with this for a while then refresh things later down the line. Focus on ITVX for now, get that well established, then come back to the channels, especially ITV1

But isn't that because it had to be? The corporate logo changed, so basically everything was out of date on the launch day... this one is slightly different - the logos haven't changed that much & they're clearly still struggling to roll it all together because of ITVX issues?

I know it wasn't a drastic change but when BBC updated their logo, their rollout was awful and still isn't complete now.
Pretty much everyone will agree the 2013 ITV rebrand was overall a huge success. All the main channels were tied together but still had their own identity, it all felt very modern, fresh and very well thought-out.
This new look unfortunately lacks that sadly.

But the inability to rollout properly in a semi-rebrand than a full-rebrand is even worse - there are fewer components to change, it should be easier. A good rebrand requires everything to change on the dot, otherwise you're undermining the purpose of the rebrand - i.e., if it is possible for the two brands to co-exist, there is nothing wrong with the old one in the first place.

This is admittedly not the case-study-level disaster of the BBC Chameleon's still ongoing rollout, but the fact that the rebrand is supposed to tie into ITVX and ITVX clearly has issues means that the overall rebrand should have been delayed (allowing them to greater finesse the wider branding). The fact News' rebrand is also being delayed screams, to me, an overall poor level of planning in the project.

No sign of the ITV1 Cafe ident yet?

Its nice to see at least ONE of the idents having different variations for daytime and evening. That is something else to mention. The majority of the idents on each channel, besides the people/action, all look they were filmed one after the other. Besides this one, and the ITV 3 Cafe ident, there's no variation in lighting or anything. I don't think that helps. I think that makes it worse.

I’ve noticed a problem on ITV2 that’s been happening since the rebrand, where the announcement during the credits is always cut off a few seconds early, here’s an example (apologies for the poor quality):

Not sure whether to put here or in the website's thread but the ITVX promo has now updated to say "Rolling out now".
