Yes ..as I said despite the government paying them moved so the experiment could continue …. And the carriage costs being on the low side …
It was meant to motivate people but it seems obviously that they were happy with what they have ….
Vaizey may have had more effect …..

Was people really going to be motivated by the likes of 4SevenHD and QVC HD, all the worthwhile ones were likely tied up by agreements with the likes of Sky and Virgin.
QuestHD was the only decent non PSB channel offered.
I'd rather see money put into delivering fibre broadband to were it is needed rather than giving life support to a dying platform.

At present there are three static resolutions on the UK DTT Platform
1920 pixels per line
720 (or 704) pixels per line
576 pixel per line
Vaizey would have removed the middle one and thus a far more obvous quality differece!!!
and would have been timed that the investment coud be ammortised over 10+yaers
(noting that as there is no more income for HD or Digtal TV the Arqiva Contract are over 25 Years nake it affordable)
Also at Vaizey time there was a queue of channels which could been carried....
and also at the same time by mandating SD T2 AVC AAC channels work 720 Pixel - put the quality back at no excess cost.
But we should exploit the fact that we can see that the future is IP ,......
(unlike in the early 1990s when the seen future was very analogue PAL+ assorted MACs etc )
But the BBC has to replace its physical DTT SD coders - should it just add more instances in SD ????
or remove PSB SD from the DTT Platform as it has done on DSAT....
and if it refarms things to have a Regional mux using existing instances and carrying exsisting legacy PSB
and then a national Or even a UK wide mux there are lot lot fewer Instances required
(could be say 15 to 20 not 150!!!)... there are some radio implications along with making BBC Scotland S4C BBC Alba a lot easier
or do they take the PSB with are not Regional on that Mux???
(or if COMUX was paid off Local TV could be in SD On a Regional mux covering a larger area!!!!!!!!!)
