I see that Autoscript have a voice control product, has that been trialled anywhere in the UK?

The BBC trialed a system in 2001 see WHP 015 page 9
downloads.bbc.co.uk
It formed the basis of an MPhil thesis
BBC R&D was working with speech to text from say 30 years ago.
And the white paper mentioned covers most of them..
Prompter systems did not have to have very good speech to text as you already had the script….
And likewise the auto alignment and “blocking up” of real-time subtitles into IPlayer
And also used as part if the rough creation of prepared subtitles e.g Eastenders…
And as it had the script it parsed the whole episode and chose non clashing colours

I'd assume someone worth their salt would either be able to cover it up or at least be honest with the viewer that there's a problem (quicker than he did).
In fairness, this was probably one of those occasions that simply became a blind panic. It would be understandable if there just wasn't much rational thinking in the heat of the moment.

Weather forecaster Dan Holley presented his last forecast for Look East this evening as he is leaving WeatherQuest to join the Met Office.
Susie Fowler-Watt Invited him onto the sofa at the end of the programme and showed some clips of his first Look East forecast in 2013 at the age of 22! Shame to see him go as he often added some weather facts into the forecast. Will be interesting to see if they continue to use Chris Bell from WeatherQuest as a stand in presenter when Alex and Julie are off.

I would be surprised if they stopped. Whilst it has felt like Dan has been the main cover in Norwich for quite a while Chris has featured as well.
Shame I missed it. Would have been interesting seeing his first - I can't believe how long he's been with them.

Has BBC East got rid of many of its behind the scenes technical people?
Reason i ask is that I’ve seen a few reports where the camera work / angles have been very dodgy - one this evening about D-Day looked like the tripod was missing a leg!
A few weeks ago there was also a live report where for the entire piece to camera the reporter was completely out of focus as the camera had auto focused or been focused on the background. This never changed for the duration of the report even when they went to a piece of VT in between it wasn’t corrected. Certainly doesn’t feel as slick as it used to.

Radio Cambridgeshire is holding their election hustings today - whereas some have been able to use the regional TV facilities, they’ve decamped to the local uni campus.

Unsurprisingly, Radio Norfolk made full use of The Forum’s TV studio.

Incidentally, Terry Underhill was one of the new recruits during the Local Radio upheaval, having previously spent his entire career in commercial radio (most recently on GHR breakfast in Swansea)
P.S. Didn’t Chris Mann use to be on Sky News?

They also had an election husting on Monday (for St Neots & Mid-Cambs) and used a similar setup. For that they may have used a room within Radio Cambridgeshire's building for that one, as one of the candidates mentioned being in Cambridge for this husting. One detail I did notice via the video was that (almost) every candidate had a foam cover on their microphone and connecting cable which matched their political party's colours.
I suppose Radio Cambridgeshire should also be credited for having the modern BBC logo on their backdrop.
Formerly 'Charlie Wells' of TV Forum.
