BBC/ITV/Sky Elections Coverage

So all along Rishi was just waiting for the end of the football season then to do Sky a favour.

Same here, I believe Emily Maitlis will be on Channel 4, so I will switch between them and the BBC

Bet they wish they filmed this a couple of days later. Could have had Darren McCaffery turning up at the end and being escorted out by Sky security.

I’m surprised Jonathan Samuels doesn’t feature. He’s been presenting By-Election coverage for Sky News for quite a while and did the overnight coverage of the Local Elections.

Maybe he'll do the day after election coverage instead or turn up presenting at one of the counts instead.

Sounds like a remix of the US Election music in the background towards the end.

Nice to see bit of levity in that promo. Great to see how Sky has been going from something a bit bland to something livelier over the years. It's not exactly the Sky of 2004 or 2005 but it's now become quite enjoyable to watch over extended periods of time again!

- the PM standing in the pouring rain
-people interrupting with bullhorns and loud music (fairly new-ish or at least the frequency)
-the press standing in the rain for hours. ( also the loud noises from protesters interrupts the public from hearing the statements or in the least its distracting, SkyNews commenting on the optics of him standing in the rain and the loud distracting music)

Just seems the best solution would be to use the press briefing room that the government paid for but rarely appears any more.

I know UK loves tradition, but maybe its time to use "#10 Door" for certain things. Like when the PM is installed or something. But in case of inclement weather they should have planned to do this in the briefing room. And yes I realise that it was the PM or at least his people that decided to hold it the rain rather than from inside #10.
It almost seems like they enjoy punishing the press somehow. (LOL)

Nick Watt brought up this subject on Newsnight just now. Apparently, the political elements of the speech made would preclude the speech from being made in the press briefing room - whilst also commenting that previous leaders like Blair or Cameron would never have let today happen in the way it did.

I quite like Kay, very decent interviewer who will do well hosting the show. Beth and Sam are great analysts but I don’t think Sophy has the power to host such an important event, certainly no where near Adam Bolton level.

Out of interest what makes you say this? She hosts a live nightly politics show and is regularly praised for her hosting and insight. She’s interviewed countless politicians and leaders. I literally can’t think of anyone more suited.
