But there are plenty of other parts of the BBC that could move into that space to fill it up. I suspect that would require Studio E to be off air for a while.
Never thought about remote working. This is what happens when you’ve don’t work (long term sick) you forget what it’s like!
I guess as well when they moved some of the specialisms to different parts of the country will have an impact two.
I’m sure when they first moved and they were showing round the newsroom those work stations were for people doing a certain role. Or have I made that up?

You're correct. The Newsroom was very busy.
There are two facts why there are less people working in News at NBH these days and that's because the BBC have moved multiple departments out of London and around the country and as we're already discussing - remote working!
It's quite astonishing that in just ten years things have changed so dramatically at NBH, certainly as far as news specifically and output in general.
There'll be a Soho House occupying one of the floors soon enough!

Hello everyone, been away since TVLF shut down but missed the discussion and glad I’ve found this again.
Been reading back through the last few weeks’ of this thread and wondered if anyone has clarified whether or not the presenter/reporter roles are the same as the ‘stand by’ team who will be on hand for breaking domestic stories? Unless the plan is for business and political correspondents to also present at weekends, I haven’t quite figured out why they need new ‘correspondents’ specifically for the new news channel, when surely the bulk of contributions will be from the BBC’s existing reporter base?
Do we also have any insight into the production workings of the ‘visualised’ Nicky Campbell output will be? Are we expecting it to look like current radio output does on social media (awkwardly placed cameras, presenters speaking into radio mics etc.) or something closer to the TalkTV/ News Agents approach?
Finally, are the BBC One bulletins which are currently produced by the NC (the One and weekends) getting their own fully dedicated crews and production teams now? If so, I wonder if they might have any role to play in breaking news opts - in a similar way to the Network team would have to make it to air in the event of major daytime breaking news in the pre-NC era?
Thanks

Have watched the rolling news on Bojo.... UK only story, presenter doing down the line interviews with reporter at Westminster followed by interview with in-studio guest followed by interview with Mr Johnson. Just can't see how this will work with the downgraded channel.

Yep, pretty much all day today has been a succession of big UK only stories

looks like they are definitely acknowledging that this will be BBC News channel's very last day.

I doubt they will say anything on air. It would be like admitting that the UK channel is closing and will simulcast World from now on.

Hopefully they do mention the fact that it's the last proper NC hour - will be a shame to see the hour end without some sort of goodbye

Especially as there will be relatively few differences come Monday, except for the editorial agenda. Same studio, same presenters, same channel name, same format. I could see them giving a little nod to it in the close, but not expecting a highlights package or anything.
Though I could see something more significant being done before the April launch, given that presumably they’re also saying good bye to the World News brand too?

LOL!
I hope Reeta is taking it easy on the fizz if she's doing the 6/10.
