HM Queen Elizabeth Dies & Funeral Coverage

Got a sneak peak at one of the BBC sets for Monday.

BBC have a great live view of Westminster Abbey behind them, It looks like they are on the roof of Central Hall.

When I was in the area last weekend, I saw lots of scaffolding being set up in front of the QEII Centre facing Westminster Abbey, presumably a few broadcasters will have positions on there.

There seems to be no regional weather after the late weekend ITV News?. Did it start after the queen’s passing?

A very helpful YouTube user has uploaded the full Politics Live show from that day - when the very first vague statement on health broke. There was no opting into NC output at that stage, so Jo Coburn was left attempting to intersperse the Queen news in between panel discussion. A notable piece of output since you had live, genuine reactions from political panellists who otherwise weren't expecting to discuss the Queen that day. 21:20 when they try to break into the Speakers statement to the House, 34:40 when they go into rolling coverage mode.

The coverage is kinda "bare-bones", they basically dropped everything in the running order, aired a 10 min obit package, then have a reporter ad-lib and into a cold close.

Despite that, it's still impressive how the small production team can handle the breaking news given limited resources, while all the other resources are devoted to NC and WN simulcast at that time...

One of the most gracefully handled announcements out of the bunch by a relatively unknown presenter - hopefully, that's something that can go on presenter/producer showreels.

I'm surprised the Africa service didn't crash into "BBC Television from London" when they put up the "News Report" slide.

I guess as they had some notice that an obit scenario was imminent there was time to consider what would happen if the announcement came while FoA was on air.

Sky news this weekend have been closing each hour that I have seen with a montage and end cap.

Did all the BBC regions have the 'A' team of presenters on the special regional news tonight.

In Yorkshire, we had Amy Garcia presenting with Paul on the weather, whilst in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire it was Peter Levy presenting (on a sunday, just like the old days).

Riz Lateef on BBC London with a fully resourced bulletin.

The BBC's studio at Westminster Abbey has just made its debut ahead of tomorrow, it's an exact copy of the studio we've seen this week at Buckingham Palace, though with a slightly smaller coffee table

And what a lovely view the studio has!
