Doctor Who

Looks like the Whoniverse ident will be prefacing Doctor Who content on TV, not just iPlayer. It appeared at the front of both Talking Doctor Who and the concert on BBC Four tonight.

I suspsected as much. I do wonder if us in Wales, when the main show airs on BBC One, will get the BBC Cymru Wales ident (as we normally do), the Whoniverse ident or both?

Just the Whoniverse one I think, since it's no longer actually made by BBC Cymru Wales, but instead by an independent production company, Bad Wolf.

This really looks like a complete reset button for Doctor Who - probably the biggest shake up since the 2005 reboot.

First Doctor story The Daleks has been colourised and will air on BBC Four on November 23rd. It will be a 75 minute edit that will be on BBC Four, with the full 7x25 serial still on iPlayer (I'm presuming still in black and white).

An Adventure in Space and Time, the 2013 docudrama about the creation of Doctor Who, will be coming to iPlayer according to RTD.

There will be a Doctor Who feature (I think minisode rather than a preview or something else) as part of Children in Need. This will also see the first episode of the new behind-the-scenes series Doctor Who: Unleashed released exclusive to iPlayer.

And the Whoniverse trailer that is airing as of yesterday.

Multiple announcments every day at the moment, really hard to keep up with, let alone watch! Big Grin

When this was first made, they claimed the interaction between “Hartnell” and Matt Smith as the current Doctor had purposely been shot on green screen so it could be re-edited in the future to include the “current” Doctor at any time.

I never think there were actually real plans for that, just a little “this could be possible” for the future, but doesn’t it feel like something Russell T Davies might do? They’ve clearly been working on secret shoots and edits etc in time for the 60th and I wonder if it’s a little quirky addition he might have attempted - replacing Smith with Tennant or even shooting the scene with various returning Doctors to intercut them or release various versions.

I’m so pleasantly surprised with many announcements and releases at the moment. And so many (e.g. the new spin-off and the colourisation of The Daleks) are unexpected… things we never knew we needed but feel like a real treat and celebration of the show!

The Children in Need special will most likely be a clip from the first episode of the 60th specials possibly with David in the studio

This goes back to what RTD used to do in his first era as showrunner, he gave Children in Need a little special in 2005 with David's first scene in the TARDIS as a Children in Need exclusive. he then had Moffat write a special episode "Time Crash" for the 2007 event, and in 2008 and 2009 he offered first look clips of that year's Christmas Day specials.

So it is nice to see him doing the same now he is back.

Maybe they meant the two stories that appeared a segment on that show, Dreamland and The Infinite Quest. Both of those are up in omnibus form.
