We knew this was coming - RTD wanted to reclaim December 25th for Doctor Who - I don't know who chose to end it back in 2018, was it the BBC or was it Chibnall refusing to write a proper Christmas special? Anyone know?

It was Chibnall. He didn't care. There was no special at all for the 2020 season, they just started the series (with the episode Spyfall) on New Year's Day instead.

Why are iPlayer randomly inserting BSL episodes? What is the point?

It's really annoying when they appear under the 'next episode' function. You then have to delete them and search again for the same one, which you have to guess at, as none are labelled as BSL.

That sounds like a glitch. Surely BSL versions should be labelled as such? If you've just watched the normal version of say, Survival Part 1, then it should suggest you watch the normal version of Survival Part 2 next. If you was watching the BSL version the next episode recommendation should also be BSL. And not vice versa.

With all of Chibnall's "festive" specials as some people called them, were any of them actually festive in nature? I never watched the 2019 or 2021 New Year's Day "festive" specials, only the last one which was in Jodie's final three specials.

There was a TARDIS and cameras at MediaCity a few weeks back, could have something to do with the CiN minisode?

Also a confirmation of the title there, though that has been widely reported for a while.

Back to November, and 'The Daleks' coulourisation will air at 7:30 on BBC Four on the 23rd, with a repeat of the docudrama 'An Adventure in Space and Time' following. Presumably that will then join iPlayer for evermore after that.

To the specials, and I did see a tweet with the reported of the episodes lengths - they will average at about an hour each.
(Annoyingly can't find it now)

Last night also the premiere of the first special at Battersea

Not sure how accurate it is, but the common story it was down to Chibnall rather than the BBC. Moffat and Capaldi were set to finish after series 10 but stayed for a final Christmas special so the show would not lose the Christmas Day slot...and then it lost it anyway. You can clearly imagine that the series 10 finale was to be the regeneration story originally. If I remember correctly, I think I heard Moffat state previously that "Twice Upon a Time"'s concept of the current Doctor meeting the first was an early idea for the 50th.

2019 was set on New Year's Day, 2021 was not given any official setting (apart from 10 months after the last episode) and 2022 was set set on New Year's Eve, but really  they all could have been set on almost any other day of the year with minor edits.

The first special is provisionally scheduled for Saturday 25th November at 6.30pm. Surprised they haven’t put it on after Strictly.

That'd mean an 8pm slot, right? So I'm not surprised it's before Strictly.
