From what I see in the Rudabeh Shahbazi part of the promo, it looks like KCAL and KCBS might after all retain separate brands. KCBS using the CBS News Los Angeles brand and KCAL going for “KCAL News Los Angeles”. That might be excepted for the new morning show, given an hour also airs on KCBS. However, KCAL shows also air on the CBS News Los Angeles streaming network on Pluto TV, so it might be a bit different eventually.

It's official: the new KCAL morning show launches Thursday. 



The show will have three segments: the 4-4:30am segment features former KTNV traffic anchor Kalyna Astrinos, which will focus on weather and traffic; existing KCBS morning anchors Chris Holmstrom and Marci Lee will be retained from the 4:30-7am segment; when she returns from maternity leave, Amber Lee will join for the weather, alongside Kalyna doing traffic and Kristin Smith doing social and feature segments. 7-10am will be anchored by Jamie Yuccas and Rudabeh Shahbazi, with Paul Deanno joining from February. The 11am hour's presenters are unknown, but Smith will anchor an 11:30am show exclusive to the CBS News Los Angeles streaming network.

Scripps' FTA news channel Newsy is being renamed Scripps News on New Year's Day. This rebrand is happening due to a major reorganization of Scripps' national divisions, which involved the merger of Ion Media into Katz Broadcasting, renamed as Scripps Networks; additionally, Newsy is being spun-off and will form the basis of a national news division which will integrate the company's Washington Bureau, Court TV, and their Local Media operations into a single roof, led by former ABC News and Al Jazeera America executive Kate O'Brian. Although a new logo using a new version of the Scripps lighthouse is being implemented, the existing graphics by Elevation will be retained (although accordingly modified to reflect the new look).

And it's now on air, swapping the purple for blue. Not too sure on the light gradient though:
