The ticker looks kind of like the Nexstar ABC package's ticker.  (here's WGNO, with the same ticker)

The new WPIX studio looks pretty good on the first weekday edition of the Morning News. A nice yellowy sunrise version of the skyline on the screens, replaced by the daytime version when the sun is fully up.

The only thing about the set that I find slightly odd is how the centre screen just features a section of the same image as the one behind the mullions when it's not being used for story graphics, which is a lot of the time. It just looks like there's a gap in the mullions - not terrible, but I thought they'd at least put some kind of filter on the centre section.

Over the weekend NewsNation moved the clock to the left a little so the show name box can be bigger.  Yes it says NewsNation, the show is NewsNation Prime (which still airs weekends) Yes I do think it's silly when they could have just done the [Prime] name thing.

There is a news report here about a meteorologist orologist passing out while live on air from KCAL Breakfast News in Los Angeles.

I hope she is OK after that ordeal.

Staying with CBS, the long-rumoured new open from KDKA/CBS News Pittsburgh debuted during their News at Noon today. Like their previous package, they broke free of the generic blue and used a black/yellow combination:

... or solely the former, in case of the lower thirds, which doesn't look good to the full-screen graphic, also in black:

The headline super is still white though:

They are still using the KDKA News name too, seems in fitting with the interview that stations won't have to use the "CBS NEWS... location name" thing if they don't want to, but they put the name there for the streaming thing. I like they kind of do their own thing even in the constraints of the overall look.

In other CBS O&O news, this is an interesting read on how CBS News Detroit is working in the tech side:

The launch hasn't been without irks, however: they are using the new weather graphics, but with a mismatch of the old and new weather icons.

Worth noting too that the opens have dropped Steve Kamer in favour of Drew Patterson, best known for narrating truTV staple Impractical Jokers and the American English version of Genshin Impact; he also works full time for KABC-TV and iHeartRadio.

Speaking of which, WJZ in Baltimore started using the new weather graphics as well:

Very interesting article. Too bad they didnt show up very well during breaking news. Might be because of the lack of staff. But local news viewing habits are a strongly entrenched habit. But I do like the streaming first strategy and the idea of the mobile newsroom. Definitely a smart designed news operation. Sadly, I think due to staffing issues it hampered them right out the gate. Hopefully they can overcome it and not fall back to the traditional style of newsgathering.
