American News Presentation

Since Hearst took over WBBH and WZVN's news output in Fort Myers, if a weekend morning show anchor goes on vacation, they simply don't use reporters as cover as the co-anchor since the ownership transferred from Waterman Broadcasting.

Both stations are without co-anchors this weekend and not for the first time, they've used the meteorologist to do the TOTH with the lead anchor and sometimes use them for features.

While on competitor WINK News, we got a wide shot of the longest running temporary set in the Fort Myers market which just shows how small the area they're using in the main studio is.

Unlike WBBH and WZVN, they rolled out two meterologists this morning to cover Tropical Storm Idalia that will hit the western side of Florida, although the predictions currently show that it won't hit Fort Myers/Naples with Tampa/St Pete possibly being just inside the storm.

Over on CBS, KTVT is dropping their 6pm news, but add a 7pm one on KTXA:

And on ABC, seems like either WPVI Philly or KTRK Houston is the next station rolling out the new news graphics. The former has a small glimpse over the new intro, Action News branding intact, in their promo:

And KTRK has been airing promos in the new design, with bits of red replacing the standard yellow, per TVNewsTalk:

WBBM already had that 4pm newscast , it was added back in January of 2022  robertfeder.dailyherald.com  , The promo is that they are replacing Doctor Phil with  Let's Make a Deal moving from 2 to 3pm and Drew Barrymore Show being moved back to 2pm (it was at 9:30am), I do think they are expanding the 9am to one hour , though. (At least from TVPassport' s lstings)

Fox is launching a new nightly regional newscast, "West Coast News Wrap." It will initially be produced and air on KTVU in the San Francisco Bay Area. Look for Fox's other stations in LA, Seattle, and Phoenix to simulcast it soon.

Speaking of FOX they launched an app this summer on Roku that combines all their O&O with stories and most important live streams. Its called FOX LOCAL. Its particularly useful when breaking news is happening and it allows you to stream the local affiliate instead of relying on someone hundreds of miles away.

KMAX's Primetime Sacramento is now on air, with quite a lot of branded stings in jumping to different newsrooms or going live:

Some gimmicky new segments: A dedicated vox pop section...
youtu.be

... And a Q&A towards the break:

The coming up junction looks different than other O&Os though:

Much plainer affair in the heavily-advertised KPIX+ Primetime, meanwhile: Using the same CBS News Bay Area branding, only with a dedicated KPIX+ bug in the lower thirds.

The innovative stuff, turns out, is on their weather side of things...

And before all that, this is the end of News Now the night prior:

TVNewsTalk also described a new opening for it with more 3D elements, but I couldn't find any footage online.
