American News Presentation

I'm not  complaining - I actually quite enjoyed Pop Start and the other lighter features with my morning coffee instead of the 7am news block.

A UK opt-out exists?
I'm really curious as to what this looks like now.

It's all 4 hours of the previous day's Today show condensed into 3 hours. The local news slots are removed and the ad breaks possibly shortened so each hour of the show fits into 45 minutes - but it's the full show.

It's the same 3-hour block that's shown from 4-7pm and 7-10pm UK time on the Today All Day streaming channel the previous day. Quite a neat idea that I'd imagine costs them next to nothing, as they're just recycling content that was put together for Today All Day.

The opt back in to the main feed just now wasn't perfect as we got the final few seconds of Dateline before Early Today started, but not a big deal.

I'm not sure when the opt-out was introduced. They dropped it at the start of the Israel-Gaza war (when I'm guessing they felt it was inappropriateto be showing 19 hour-old content), but it's back now.

KWQC-TV in the Quad Cities, which are four cities two in Iowa and two in Illinois , has gone back to using one the more famous local news themes "Hello" by Frank Gari. The station is turning 75 next year on Halloween , so today they've decided to go back to using the theme on newscasts.

Here's the intro from noon
www.youtube.com

They did use it for their special "Hello Clinton" newscasts last week as well

Here's their story about bringing back Hello
www.kwqc.com

Pretty nice to see, no change in graphics. They used Hello from 1990-2012 , then switched to "Breakthrough" and now have gone back to using "Hello"
Probably one of the most successful news themes and local TV station jingle packages ever, it even made it to Canada and Australia. It was first used at WISN-TV in Milwaukee in the late 70's.

Still a great theme with a great signature since WISN Milawaukee first used way back in 1978. And most famously by WXIA 11ALIVE Atlanta.

WNBC in New York has moved studios in 30 Rockefeller Center (from studio 3K to a newly subdivided 3B), and debuted a new set.

It’s a similar layout to the previous set that debuted in 2016, but a bit more refined. While fairly simple I think it looks great and is probably the best set in NYC at present - nothing beats the live sunset video feed from the top of 30 Rock. P

This is a good article about the reasons Tucker Clarkson was fired from Fox News 6 months on. No-one knows for sure what triggered it, but this is an excellent summary of the issues and events involved

Really thoughtful of them - Nexstar's WHBF (CBS) taking new group-wide graphics pales in comparison.

Re GrayOne on the station, insider over on TVNewsTalk claims they're undergoing a gradual rebrand process - stage one is the return of the Hello campaign, and GrayOne is on the schedule too.

They had used some elements of the GDG graphics to start an investigative feature though.

Over on New Bern, NC, WCTI (ABC/Sinclair) has a new news brand - they're now News 12 Now instead of News Channel 12.

Shame they dropped the Singature theme, at least they didn't go to a theme that's over used. Those are improvement graphics over the old Nexstar graphics.

CBS News (on streaming) uses the CBS Local news theme during the 9AM ET block now

Also when CBS stations that were CW affiliates dropped the CW the News Now shows were canceled.  Most of the stations went to back to locally made newscasts or dropping news altogether (Seattle for example. ) In Atlanta they kept the name Atlanta Now and back to local news being produced from New York City. WUPA had a CW69 News produced from NYC in 2020, they stopped for a few months and just simulcasted Boston 10pm news then started doing a local newscast produced from Dallas, which lasted until the News Now shows came in, now back to a full NYC produced local news.  cast. Georgia political ad money of course.   www.youtube.com

This is a big improvement on the old set, which I really didn't like. Brighter and cosier, but still spacious. I'm especially glad they've ditched the glass table for a proper desk.

It's definitely one of the best NYC sets. But, for me, WPIX's bright, spacious and very 'New York' set takes some beating.

This popped up on my Youtube it's the full first newscast with Hello News back, but the start of the video also shows their Hello Image campaign song is also being used again too, with new footage.
