If we want the government dictating who they can and cannot employ and what opinions they can express outside of their job. We're heading into dictatorship territory there.

Clearly Lineker is now no longer at the BBC.

To be honest Gary parting company with the BBC would probably be a win win for both sides
Gary will go and work for another broadcaster and probably get paid at least the same if not more, for equally prominent broadcasting and will not have his salary analysed every year
The BBC get to save money on his salary, get to promote someone more diverse up the football presenting hierarchy, and will probably still get exactly the same ratings for MOTD and other live football as they do now. Plus they won’t have to deal with this sort of controversy next time Gary wades in on a political issue

It is utterly ludicrous that this is the lead story on the Six.
BBC navel gazing and self-flagellation at its finest.

Agreed! What utter nonsense. Almost dropped an Burford Brown egg when it started with that story.

It only be headline worthy if he actually got sacked.

He'll quit first. This evening.

All true but the later part is not controversy free. Alex Scott for example is always criticised in the press and social media and she would be first in line for the highlights role as I feel Gaby Logan will more likely take on the live matches part. Plus splitting it stops it being seen as a gender pay gap issue quite so much.

I think that is exactly what will happen, before the papers hit deadline, so around 9ish possibly?
